Weld on a nut to the nub. The heat will loosen the broken bolt and the nut will help you extract it.

Nice video! Yesterday I had the exact same issue with my df60... I'll bring it to a workshop now to drill out the bolt and have them check the cooling...

I watched this video freaked out about the bolt so I went fishing and while engine was hot took all 3 off in less than 2 minutes.. I had broken off a lower unit because i did not heat in the past . .heat it or else.. thank you for saving me.

Getting ready to change mine ,,99 df70 ,I also bought a water pressure valve that goes into the upper exhaust manifold, but debating on it,,I think I will have to take the computer out to get to it.

@@jonathanwaldrop730 hi, ichanged the impeller, base plate and plastic housing. Took the thermostat out and ran 'rydlyme ' through the sytem . Ran it in a drum of fresh water next day and it seems to be ok now, no overheat alarm. Put a new thermostat in and running ok now.

Mine doesn’t have a thermostat there just a spring almost like a pressure relief valve the filler neck looking piece on the top of the exhaust manifold above where the coolant temp sensor is where the thermostat is located

Did you have to bend the t stat up like that to be able to grab onto it to pry that plate out? Doesn’t seem possible to get that first plate out without causing damage to the thermostat

I tried pulling it out without damaging it but it was stuck. I had no other options other than bending the thermostat in order to get enough leverage to pull it out. I already bought a new one so I was going to replace it anyway.

Can you link where you bought it? Also is there a kit with a new gasket and all?

Did the new thermostat fix the overheating issue you had?

I'm curious to know also mine has some over heating issues. Didnt want to start after running about a hour

Yes, I replaced the impeller as well so I don't know what did it but it was fixed. Used a helicoil after drilling out the bolt.
