Adelicia (Zumba licensed in 2008) breaks down a ZUMBA FITNESS Basic version of the Samba Step. This video is meant to show students an easier approach to try when doing a Samba rhythm in a ZUMBA/Aerobic style class. Adelicia is now the founder of Movez Dance Fitness classes

You do teach the correct way, giving us your back, all the other instructors are teaching us giving the front and it is difficult watching the videos and do the steps that way at the same time. Thank you very much!

This was so helpful! I rarely use samba moves in my Zumba class, simply because I wasn't comfortable that I was doing the moves correctly! Now I can't wait to choreograph a samba routine!

I figured this would be good because we do so many fast songs in class that people can never execute the steps correctly and the rhythm is slower and more pronounced so they can focus on their coordination :) good catch!
Thanks so much for this video Adelicia. Having just started with Zumba a year and a half ago, having taught nearly 20 years of fitness classes this was a huge help for me. wow thanks! it isn't often you meet or read a person who know this kind of information about dancing. once something created by africans has been picked up by anglos, it's origins become obscured. most people go along with it bec they see that kind of thing (assimilation) as the best or only road to "acceptance" (and acceptance by others as the only route to self respect).

The song is Santo Santo sung by Gloria Estefan (Cuba) and Alejandro Pires (Portuguese) so they combined the Afro-cuban and Brazilian rhythms together... Alejandro has some great other portuguese songs as well you can check out. I figured this would be good because we do so many fast songs in class that people can never execute the steps correctly and the rhythm is slower and more pronounced so they can focus on their coordination :) good catch!

I'm so confused. What's the difference between Zumba and Samba dances? I thought they both similar except Zumba requires more body movements (always swinging to the hard left and hard right).
Zumba is a dance fitness which involves certain dance forms like merengue, samba, salsa, cumbia etc

Hello, that the songs that you used was not samba :( , a tip, do not ever forget wiggle/shake your hips to the side and not the body, at 6:36 you did perfect! Congratulations, you taught well!
I think that even if the song is not samba she can still execute the move. For example, I use Justin beiber ft. J. balvin Sorry to teach basic steps for salsa to my older Zumba Kids. But glad I found her video.

Definitely! When you're out and about dancing with tons of people and especially when you're performing Samba you want to really show off those hips... And for lack of better words work that booty!
