I have played through the demo and this is what I think of the vehicles: Truck: Only worthwhile in the early game when you can't afford IFVs. Can hold 3 troop units. Buggy: Cheap, but mostly useless. Basically it's Infantry but much faster. If they could capture buildings the same way Infantry can, Infantry, Trucks and IFVs would be useless, which is why they can't. IFV: MUCH more powerful than the Buggy and can carry 2 troops. Always use these to move your troops if you can afford them. Artillery: Cannot move and fire in the same turn, cannot counterattack, attack range is limited. If you can afford Rockets, skip these entirely. Tank: The backbone of your army. A safe bet is to produce as many of these as you can as fast as you can and swarm the battlefield with them. The ability to move and attack in the same turn cannot be appreciated enough. Rocket: Better than Artillery in every way. Range of fire is more than double, making it much better at defending your line. Dishes out more damage, too. Still cannot move and attack or counterattack. SAM: AMAZING range. Unfortunately, there are no enemy aircraft in the demo. Cannot attack ground units. No reason to ever make them. Rhino: If you can get the enemy lined up just right and there is water around, the Rhino can delete every other vehicle in the game faster than anything else. Unfortunately, this is situational at best and I never make them myself because of that. I will only use them if I am given one at the start of the battle. Giant: Very powerful but ungodly expensive. I would rather have two Tank units any day of the week. And now for the troop units: Infantry: The only unit that can capture buildings. This is their only practical function other than attacking other troops and Buggies. Sniper: Troop artillery. Very powerful if you can keep them in areas with protection (forests, mountains, etc.). Decent range. Cannot counterattack. Medic: Only utility is to heal other troops. Cannot heal themselves but can heal other Medics. Do not attack with them unless it's a guaranteed kill or the enemy cannot counterattack. A number of things about buildings: The number displayed on the buildings is their fortification amount, not how much money you receive from them. If a captured building has no number on it, it has 10 (100%) fortification. You will only receive money from a building if you control it at the start of your turn. You receive $1k from every building you control at the start of your turn, including Factories and Barracks, regardless of the amount of fortification it has. You cannot produce any units from Barracks and Factories you capture on the same turn you capture them. All buildings will generate 2 fortification (20%) at the beginning of your turn. All units can attack buildings to reduce their fortification similar to attacking an enemy unit. If the fortification is removed completely, the building turns gray (neutral). You cannot completely destroy a building. If Infantry attacks a building, they will do 40% damage to fortification and, if the fortification is neutralized after that, immediately capture it. Hope this helps!
A couple tips: 1) Build something every turn, even if it's 1 infantry. Infantry make excellent meat shields to protect your tanks and can capture properties. 2) Watch for artillery range. You can kite enemy artillery until you need to strike them. 3) Fire your own artillery before attacking with your tracks. Damage dealt is damage you won't take when you attack the enemy. 4) Use infantry as shields. I said this in point 1 but it bears repeating, your missile unit might have dodged damage if you clogged up chokepoints with troops, which also would have given your missile unit targets. 5) Good artillery now is better than no artillery now. Get the self propelled guns before saving up for a missile unit. 6) When you have artillery, normal tanks will do 90% of your offensive work. There's no need to get the higher end stuff so long as you have adequate artillery. That said the Rhino looks like a game changer. But heavy tanks are mostly for punching a hole in an enemy's line so normal tanks can slip through and cause damage to enemy artillery or get additional shots off, or to punish a chokepoint.
It isn't *exactly* the same, but pretty damn similar yeah. Currently no way to heal units except infantry, no resupply unit (least yet), and no garrisoning of cities/bases at this time. Butttt, yeah, pretty similar.
Loved the video @Baron! Can't wait for the next video man! We need more of Warside on the Channel! Let's see what units are available to the Game and what they can do! Don't worry about getting Giant Tanks.... Unless it's Absolutely Necessary to do so. Instead, just focus on Getting Infantry, Armor, Artillery, Transports and Support units. Believe me, you'll just from looking at the Costs, you'll get more Units to the Lines this way. Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!
It's the same genre, but there are numerous key differences. For example, the way properties are captured is different. Infantry still are needed to occupie them, but your units actually attack enemy properties to bring them to a capturable state, rather than a neutral and enemy property both taking 2 turns of a full HP infantry sitting on them to capture them. And the production facilities are much different, with infantry and vehicles having separate bases, rather then both coming from factories, with said bases spawning up to 3 units per turn onto adjacent tiles rather than 1 unit per turn onto the base itself. And then you get the Rhino, which does something simply not found in advanced wars by pushing enemy units around on the map. Theres also a load of small differences with this having some different units and some units being mechanically changed, which makes the game at least a little distinct from advanced wars even disregarding the major gameplay differences. So bassically, no, aside from both games being 2D turn based war games, they are extremely different. It's like looking at dark souls and ghost of tsushima and saying both are the same because both are 3rd person fighting games with a melee focus and boss fights, very obviously incorrect.
@@Santisima_Trinidad Don't forget you can't garrison Cities/Bases (Least as of right now) to heal & resupply, which is a pretty noteworthy change, dunno if that's temporary or not from what I've looked into of Warside so far, but man it looks great!
in this game you can build infantry 3x from any barracks, which makes for great barriers for artillery/rockets to operate behind. I'm thinking artillery/rocket spam works pretty well. Rockets also seem way better than artillery at the price they're offered at in this game.
they really went with the "buildings are solid blocks and cant be stepped on" idea like in Wargroove, its annoying that you have to go around them and not just go through them, or step into the building tile for more defense boost. They shouldve just went with the Advance Wars style capture of buildings. Still its a pretty neat game, would definitely sink some time into this when i get the chance
`7:30 ROFL! I wasn't expecting a single Rhino to be able to yeet an entire Tank squad into a Lake! Anyways, some general tips: Eliminating enemy units isn't everything. If they're wounded, they're not only taking up space, but also can't hit you very hard. You may need to abuse this later, or if you want to have a perfect battle where you don't lose any units.
@@matthewcobley125 Ye! I think Warside has some neat changes to the Adv War formula so hope you enjoy it! It is also still in its Beta/EA era, so keep that in mind for any criticisms since it can still change by the (current) launch date of Jan 18 or 28th forget which/
Baron I’ve been watching since you where uploading 6 years ago but this is my alt my main got hacked. :( your voice has changed and your a game master.
Try spamming infantry. They are cheap meat shields for your tanks and will make your oponent waste their movement killing them. This game really needs a unit with area damage to deal with cheap crowds.

“Too much artillery” lol
I'm really looking forward to the full version of this game. Brings back the days when Advance Wars was the best strategy game I knew.

Finally a fire emblem pased game
More based on Advanced Wars, where soldiers are disposable, but... overall similar.
Fire Emblem is a 1vs1 Unit, in think Advanced Wars is more similar to Langrisser where 1 Unit present bunch of Unit in Battle Mode.
...this is LITERALLY ADVANCED WARS!
We should get an APC since it could already float we could make it fly and give it massive wheels kind of like the p1000 rat
