What this man has done to this program is astonishing. I'm an Ohio State grad but watched Minnesota be a bottom feeder for so many years, felt sorry for them, wondered when/if they'd ever rebound. The time is here. Congrats Gopher fans!

no further west gopher alumni here: remember those days in the 80s when we were doormats (Nebraska anyone?). Fleck has done a complete rehaul in short fashion, and we will probably face OSU in the championship game. Will we run the table? Iowa has no offense. It will take 30 to beat us. Northwestern is down. That leaves WI at home. I like our chances. See u soon buckeyes!
iggypopisgod9 I think you have a good chance, even if you win the next two and fall to Wisky you’ll be in the big 10 championship game. But maybe you run the table. I do think it would be hard to beat Ohio state who is also having a surprisingly good year with new head coach. But even fleck said this success is probably ahead of schedule so you’ll probably only get better from here.

All top league coaches are salesmen. Recruiting is essential, but also the market needs to be energized. America *NEEDS* a top league coach. We've lost the true meaning of *Elite* in our culture. We've been sold down the river by charlatans.

Xavier Breath he just signed a 7 year contract extension through 2026 last week that gave him a BIG raise and more control over scouting and coaching. He’ll be here for a while I’ll say.

Some of the bigger schools wouldn't blink an eye for a 10 million buyout. I hope he stays but his new contract doesn't necessarily keep him here more than 1 more season.

I saw this at WMU, telling my son today that about 6 years ago, the dude was 0-11 and being laughed out of Kalamazoo. His style caught on, and the Minnesota team looks just like the WMU team did in year three when they went 13 - 0. He now has the horses to win it all, because he will always get the most out of his players.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. His MAC talent team willed themselves to a close game with Wisconsin. The talent gap here is much smaller. The power of the mind and team unity.

As someone who is hard of hearing my only complaint is that he speaks so fast.
Coach Fleck and this team are focusing on unity and harmony between people and generations. You can see it's different but more importantly you can feel it. God bless you Coach and every player and every fan, win or lose.

Coach Fleck was a WR Coach at Northern Illinois Univ. (his alma mater) in 2007 as I attended and played on that team. We were not that good. Injury plagued and had a disappointing season at 2-10. However, Coach Fleck was a constant source of life, energy and accountability. His style is unmatched, he is tenacious, tough and above all loving. I remember him teaching how to block to the receivers on a popsicle dummy. Let's just say he brought it, but when didn't he? Never. He wins. His tank is always FULL. On to the next 1-0. Go Gophers!

I went to PSU in the 80's and saw a lot of great coaching and great games. PJ Fleck is a great coach, and the Gophers looked excellent today! congrats

Kudos P.J. Fleck. Although I am a PSU fan, you were the better team yesterday. I like your approach which has attributes of Franklin's style. Be yourself and be unique. Being passionate about what you do and how you lead is important for developing not just great athletes, but young men.
This is great to see! I was born and raised a Buckeye but was raised learning about the traditions of the other Big 10 programs as well. Today watching the Gophers and their fans celebrate, Lovie Smith being carried off the field in E. Lansing was just awesome! Good luck to the Maroon and Gold and hope to see an unbeaten Gopher team in Indy this year!
I told Minnesota fans to be patient - something good was coming. PJ is a GREAT coach, and a GREAT motivator. I'm not saying the Gophers will challenge the East for BIG dominance, but they are now poised to be there, for some time to come. This guy turned Western Michigan into a winning program - undefeated in the regular season just a few years ago. That's not a small thing. Regardless of what the ranking systems do or don't-do, Minnesota will be playing in a PROMINENT Bowl Game, in front of a HUGE TV audience.

Very impressive Fleck. You have a great quality qb that performance was superb. No doubt in my my mind this team will shock many people when the season is over . A team picked to almost finish dead last in your division and now there on the verge of being in the big ten championship game and maybe a CFP bid. The sky's the limit and it puts parity between the big ten east
I was instinctively installed to love the football team from the moment I joined the marching band back in 2012. I've watched a lot of things change in the short time that I've been an honest Gopher fan, but I just love this man so much. Running out on to that field felt like another turning point for us. Feels good, and I can't wait for the next moment.

Penn State alma mater here. We have a good coach in James Franklin who does a great job in recruiting and motivating players. However, P.J Fleck is so special. He is a genuine leader, exceptional human being, the best HC in college football bar none.

I have followed the progress of the Gophers football program closely since PJ arrived at the U of M. I could tell early on what a great coach he was because of the way he handled criticism not just from the media but from the fans as well. He has been nothing but totally honest with everyone and never puts limits on what his players can accomplish. Could not be happier for the success he and the team has had! Row the boat!!

He took over at Western Michigan my during my junior year there. They won 1 game and I still bought into what he was selling. When he left Western, I was bitter, mostly because the way he left, but I've been following him still and he hasnt changed a bit. I just wish he left my alum on good terms

I've been a die hard gopher fan for many years. On Saturday I was unable to watch the game but I was able to hear it on the radio. As time ticked away I was able to watch the final 4 minutes of the game. I see the gophers going very far this year and many more years to come. I will be at the Gophers wisconsin game cheering on my favorite team in the world. GO GOPHERS

This guy is a class act. He would have been a great coach at Nebraska. Kinda disappointed in Scott Frost there, but I love Minnesota sports, regardless if they win or lose. This was a huge win and will put them in the top 10 for sure. Nebraska born and raised and they will always be my team, but I live here in Minnesota and wish nothing but championships for all these teams.
Give Frost time, I'm a Clemson fan. You can tell Frost, Campbell, Fleck, Swinney have a different pedigree about their coaching. It takes time, just the other day Virginia Tech, was talking about letting go Fuente, but they just beat a ranked team for the first time since 2009. Again it takes time to implement a successful process.

We had a good thing going with Kill, we were on the cusp. Thank goodness we hired Fleck to keep the dream alive. It took some time, I feel we lost some recruits when we were stuck with the interim HC for a year.

Although Minnesota is gaining traction...they are not there yet. Enjoy the great win over Penn State! I think Minnesota will win the west. They will beat Iowa. Wisconsin will be a tougher game but I think Minnesota has the matchups to win that game too.

I'm getting very close to nominating this guy for a Nobel Prize. I support the U of M for nearly all sports except hockey. I'm a St. Cloud State Alum so I'm with the Huskies for hockey. I mean all Minn schools after SCSU.
