    Practise in a safe environment before you climb a big wall. Set up a top rope or go ‘aid bouldering’ to test out these techniques. Stay away from established routes when practising.

    Holy crap those soft-body 3D animations of the rope are incredible. Idk if you're making them yourself or paying somebody but A+ job on top of A+ content & delivery!

    Great video. One point at 9:55 : No knot in the end of the rope? Especially in the scenario of not having enough rope for the first method.

    • @vdiffclimbing
      @vdiffclimbing  2 года назад +1

      There is no knot in the end of the rope. If you put a knot in the end, it will get stuck in the lower-off point later when you pull your rope - which will be a problem.
      If you set up the system as shown, you will be tied into the rope at all times, therefore it is impossible to accidentally rappel off the end of the rope.

      @@vdiffclimbing First of all, thanks for the quick response. Secondly, I agree but you still could go for a ride if the rope is to short, no? And I don't see the problem with the knot since you can untie it before you pull the rope through. I'd put a knot if I wasn't sure if the rope is long enough and a swing would lead to hitting something.

    How do you get your pendulum-point gear back if you made it yourself? Seems in the first example it's now part of the wall.

    • @vdiffclimbing
      @vdiffclimbing  2 года назад +1

      Swing across and get it when you are on the pitch above. If this isn't possible, then yes, it will be part of the wall. So leave something cheap!
      This is only really a consideration on a first ascent, because otherwise there will be something left by the last team which you can use to pendulum from.
