A friend gave me a Samoca 35 III two years ago because he knew I used to do camera repairs many, many years ago. The camera lens had seized due to the grease turning to glue with age. I was able to dissolve the grease and I was able to remove the lens for regreasing. During the disassembly I accidentally let the iris leaves fall out. It took me forever to get them reinstalled because my hands shake so badly now. However everything works properly now. I’ve seen photos, online, taken with this model camera that look quite impressive. Unfortunately I don’t get out much anymore to test this camera. Thank you for this demo of the 35 II.
Thank you! I honestly wondered if this had any kind of worthwhile lens on the front of it. This is one of those cameras I won't be getting a chance to use. Too many cameras, not enough time.
Very informative, thank you! I've inherited my father's Samoca II from when he served in the U.S. Air Force while on R&R in Japan during the Korean War. I've yet to use this, but we have a box of slides from places like Kyoto and Mt.Fujiyama that are quite stunning. If used correctly, this camera CAN get nice results. Looking forward to taking it out for a spin thanks to you! 🙏
2nd 1/4-20 tripod socket is so you can keep the case on and use a tripod simultaneously. Excellent video! I cant wait to get mine out and shoot with it!

I also have one that belonged to my grandfather during his time in Korea with the Army. I as well look forward to getting some use out of mine!

Got a Samoca III from my grandfather he got when he was stationed in Japan. I use it to remember him :)
Nice!
I have a Samoca. I think it's the first model. It has an issue that I bet is fairly common. The take up spool is missing.
I would guess that's very common. I suspect that a spool from a Kodak 35mm cassette will work but you would need to tape the film to it.
I am confused, do we have to buy an add on to have photos with flash?
I don't think that flashes that are compatible with this camera have been made in some decades, but yes, this camera has no built-in flash.
@@DavidHancock is there a way to buy flashes compatible? I dont even know what to search up!
I’m new to cameras in general, so sorry for my ignorance but can you use any 35mm film? Or are there different types.
Any 35mm film will work; however, because this camera has a very slow shutter I'd recommend lookin at 100 ISO and slower (lower numbers, like 50 ISO.)
Ok thank you so much. :)
