The entire Strauss were masters of music. History has favorized Johann Strauss Jr. because of this lavish talent and skills but the three others merit the greatest of consideration. These are the greatest masters of light classical music in the entire history of music. It is a shame and loss that their works are not regularly featured in the programs of professional orchestras.
I have written to Daniel Froschauer, the chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra to persuade Franz Welser-Most to include this piece in 2023 New Year's Day concert. Wayne Palin
That's a really great idea, Wayne Palin. Vienna Philharmonic really needs more Eduard Strauss waltzes, marches, fast polkas and polka mazurkas. That's all.
@@michaelnavarro1810 I wrote a letter regarding the absence of Eduard's waltzes in New Year's Concerts programs (only his Op. 75 has been performed for over 80 years) with the with suggestions of waltzes to include in program (Doctrinen was one of them), which was forwarded to Mestro Welser-Möst himself - I hope it will be successful.
I hope that they will pefrorm any Eduard Strauss in this century because they avoid so much putting those masterpieces in the programme. Are opuses 75 (only Edi's waltz performed since year 1939), 79, 87, 97, 101, 177, 198, 200 or 296 not worth performing them? They absolutely are worth it and I guess including them all in the programs is much better idea than playing same polka or quadrille for the 50th time again and again....
@@Adamov1 the pieces you mention are excellent works but musically speaking they don't quite rise to the level of 'doctrines' - interestingly edi's fast polkas are his real forte - he can rightfully be called the 'schnell polka king'...ha
@@sousafan100 Well, Muti apprently forgot about this and we didn't hear even a single piece by Edi on January 1st 2021. Eduard is undoubtedly famous for possibly the best fast polkas in the whole dynasty, but in my opinion his waltzes are the real gems among his compositions. Frankly speaking, I think that Doctrinen is as good as the waltzes I mentioned earlier but much depends on the particular interpretation. I can't just pick the best single one when there are so many masterpieces. We have many recordings of Edi's little-known waltzes for solo piano (I recommend Jeffrey Wagner's brilliant recordings) but not for the full orchestra, from which those by MSSO and maestro Pavel Kogan are the absolutely finest ones - Huldigungen, Schleier und Krone and many more (Op. 200 recording is on my channel and I'm plannning to upload the 198 soon). There are many wonderful masterpieces to discover. I really hope to hear some Eduard's waltzes at the next Neujahrskonzert. He has composed so many masterpieces, and in the last decades we have only heard one waltz by him played in Musikverein - Fesche Geister Op. 75.
@@Adamov1 all three strauss brothers composed superb waltzes - it's just that johann wrote more of them so he's 'king' - if what you say regarding edi's works and the new years concerts is true it's indeed a shame - wake up vpo!...ha

I love that waltz, it's so hard to get it on CD, but I have already collected it. But I'm happy that somebody posted it!

@@Adamov1 Yes, I am absolutely agree with you. 😉
I hope the Vienna Philharmonic will perform the work next year.
Wayne Palin, that's a great idea. I approved it!

gotta be edi's best work...
In my opinion his Schleier und Krone Op. 200, Op. 198, Op. 75 or Op. 177 are at least level higher.
