I think you’re the most masterful sound designer in the youtube space and it’s not really close! Mostly saying this thinking of your modular work, but even here i know i’ll hear the best this drum machine has to offer.
Hands down the best demo of this machine on the internet! Still not mad about the analogue voices and the the basic sample voices. Has huge potential tho!
THIS is the drumologue review I've been looking for! I wanted to see what this device sounds like when it's really pushed around. This shit is perfect.
First of all, best review for the Drumlogue! Period. Second of all, you can even post this video without your voice and I will listen to it, because it sounds really good
We have to keep asking for a full Electribe 3! (Which would have more voices and controls than this!) Do you think there's enough variety in the possible kicks and snares here?
I think this is their Electribe 3... Weak sampler, drum machine and menu-diving... same old same old. They just called it Rhythm Machine instead of Music Production Station.
The form factor is like a 3/4 size Jomox AlphaBase? Sounds are good, great to see so many audio outputs and a lot of tricks on board! Glad to see you shred this thing! Guess you need a small power drill on the encoders to get some full filter sweeps AAAAAAAAAHAHHA!

There is actually Braids port that you can use with Drumlogue, which is awesome. Techno setup in one box with good connectivity, sync and audio routing
Can I please redesign this drum machine. 8x Volca Sample + Volca Drum voices, 6x Volca Beats voices, 2x user multiengine voices, with an analog multimode filter on each voice. Done.
Roland was the first to put VSTs in hardware (technically not true, i know, KORE), happy to see this idea might actually get wider market adoption. Also detecting some Elektron Digitakt elements, also cool. I'd like to think design teams have a whiteboard with a photo on the left and the right. One being Joey, and the other being Audiopilz. Unexpected to see this review done without pairing to the rack. Excellent job, Joey "5+ LFOs MINIMUM"
This seems like the first review to really try and run the device through its paces. In some respects in your hands, this reminds me alot of the LXR-002 but maybe not quite as easy to dial in some sweet spots. (Plus the kit morphing feature on the LXR-002 is something not enough people seem to utilize.) Completely agree on the LFO comment... that kinda kills this machine for me... maybe the plugin system can provide some simple LFOs?
Some people commented that the drum envelopes weren't snappy enough, but they seem to achieve good snap / clicks, based on some of the videos I've seen. Also, the advanced probability settings, polymeter-per-instrument, and motion record are definitely selling this machine to me. I don't have deep enough pockets for an Analog Four, but this seems like it could get me very close, for much less money.
Wow! Can't wait to watch it. Till now I didn't have any faith on this machine... Let's see how it goes after Joey gets his hands dirty with it ;) and maybe evaluate a possible purchase never thought till now. Let's see how it goes, watching it now!
Sounds way WAY cooler then i expected. No way i would ever buy a elektron again. Menu diving no thx. The question is, how deep dive is this? Probably too deep for me
Korg is my fav synth company but I don't see why I wouldn't just buy an Elektron box over this. For a little extra money, you can get wayyy more functionality. Cool demo though.
Agreed. They should have priced it at least $100 less so that they wouldn't be competing with Elektron. One could argue it's actually Roland they're competing with at that price point, but still...you can spend a few hundred extra for an elektron box. At $400-$500, it'd be an easier sell.
Nice to see how to use fm stuff as bass synth, so it's almost a groove box. Industrial/EBM style quite possible on Drumlogue. More versatility to come hopefully......will wait for more options as you said. Thnx for vid & opinion ,)
Hey man i got one on the way but i keep thinking about this one thing, are the buttons all rubber like those on the electribe 2 and mc909 or real plastic buttons? i just cant tell from the pictures at all. I hate those gummy rubber buttons. I only forgive them for amazing value for money in other ways like the Deepmind 12. Those rubber ones never last and inspire way less confidence to know you are triggering the button when you push, cause sometimes they dont. 3/4 of them on my MC909 no longer work, what a bummer. Would you mind telling me how these buttons are before I open the unit? I might even not open it if the buttons suck and send it back. gettin it for the $299 blow out price. What do you think of it for that?
I’m a little disappointed of the measly 32 megabyte sample memory, but it really does sound good. I’m also really interested in the Roland SH-4D for about the same price range and it also has lots of synth engines as well as a drum machine, but no individual outs like the Korg. So I’m going to do my research and see what’s a better bang for the buck?
Drum machine for 6 hundreds is a questionable choice especially with that clunky Korg workflow. I would go for a Roland and look for other drum machines to it if needed.
The best review of the Drumlogue & it's still a boring sounding drum machine... Especially the kick, it just doesn't have any punch no matter what anyone does with it. Glad I chose the LXR-02 instead.
Cool video but no matter the MD UW still rules the drums machines scene. Man, you really have the thing to take out the best of the gears you tried. Congratulation!!
Sounds sick, I like that it has stereo outputs as well as individual outputs. You make everything sound awesome \m/ Please do not review the Erica Synths Perkons, you may just destroy the Earth while jamming hahaha
Are the transients from the bass drum also samples? I have already watched 7minuts and I can definitely see this as a machine with many possibilities, tho sound engines seems a bit limited for my taste, but I may be wrong. I wonder how many times I have experienced the same feeling after watching your videos. Definitely regarding this one, the most impressive demo of the Drumlogue I've seen so far. Great stuff, keep it up! That distortion is a killer, bang!
Excellent sound test on the drumlogue however no matter how good its still not enough for me to have any G.A.S. over this machine. It really makes some great ambient layers but it doesn't have the drums. The drums logged out. Maybe that's why it's called the Drumlogue?
in person, probably a totally different experience. for example, there is not one youtube video of motorcycle exhaust that can convey the information you get in person.
I think you’re the most masterful sound designer in the youtube space and it’s not really close! Mostly saying this thinking of your modular work, but even here i know i’ll hear the best this drum machine has to offer.
Your channel is a breath of fresh air in the already boring synth world. Really love it! Hello from Tallinn!
This is the first video that made the Drumlogue actually sound good and tempting
Thats what i thought.
Because the kick is so toothy, it only works for dark heavy music like techno. Like BR
Frankly I watch your videos because of your skill and what you come up with and much less for the gear you demo. :)
Completely agree.
Same!
Yeah, I'd rather listen to his reviews than browse juno or beatport.
Yeah my guy shreds his gear you know
Me 2.
Hands down the best demo of this machine on the internet!
Still not mad about the analogue voices and the the basic sample voices. Has huge potential tho!
Korg owes you big time for this video. I’m buying one! Thanks Joey. You legend!
Your reviews are great showcases of how gnarly the devices can get. You always push em hard.
THIS is the drumologue review I've been looking for! I wanted to see what this device sounds like when it's really pushed around. This shit is perfect.
that sounds great in the right hands. Nice workout
huge thanks for the modulation request !!! top review as always.

haha, a gentle tip...
The drumlogue is amazing. Most people have no idea how to use it.
@@djkanyonpretty much hey
Only Blush can make an initially mundane drummachine sound worthy of a bargain purchase
It already was good before. Now on sales it's indeed a bargain. With its open architecture I predict it a long afterlife.
Finally! I was waiting like a kid at Disneyland in line for space mountain for you to make this vid. I've been waiting to see what it will really do.

I agree with the Jomox comparison. It's like they did what AlphaBase should have been. Or maybe just the next logical evolution.

Many people complain about the "weak" bass drum. What do you think?
Great master ! Inspire me so much ❤
What if they made the Sampler version of this machine?
I think the menu diving problem can be solved by using a midi controller like beatstep - it has 16 nice encoder and even some pads.
There is actually Braids port that you can use with Drumlogue, which is awesome. Techno setup in one box with good connectivity, sync and audio routing
I've little by little fallen in love with mine. Great machine!
Can it play like a normal drummer and not just repetitive beats?
