CBS Radio MYSTERY THEATRE is a radio drama series created and directed by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982. Later in the early 2000s the show was repeated by the NPR satellite feed.
The format was similar to that of classic old time radio shows like The Mysterious Traveler and The Whistler, in that the episodes were introduced by host E. G. Marshall who provided pithy wisdom and commentary throughout. Unlike the hosts of those earlier programs, Marshall is fully mortal, merely someone whose heightened insight and erudition plunge the listener into the world of the macabre.
CBS Radio MYSTERY THEATRE was broadcast each weeknight, at first with a new program each night. Later in the run, three or four episodes were new originals each week, and the remainder repeats. There were 1,399 original episodes.

I thankyou so much for these wonderful old time radio shows I haven't watched TV in 3 years all I do is listen to old time radio and pastors reaching out evangel key with the gospel 😇😇😇😘🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Mary!🙂
Glad to know I'm not the only one that can see there's nothing good coming out of Hollywood these days. Plus using imagination has really changed the way I look at things. God bless
Hey Spellbinders, the quality of these CBSRMT's is 100% beautifully recorded and uploaded. Thanks so much for your hard work. Without OTR, I'd be tossing and turning all night long and wouldn't be able to fall asleep. This way, with the way you record 3 or 4 stories on one "reel" 😄, I listen to about two and a half or three dramas, and by that time, I've fallen asleep soundly. Thank goodness, because insomnia sucks and my doctor refuses to medicate me for it. So, my appreciation for your hard work is huge. God bless you and yours always... and may your holidays this 2022 be merry and bright. 🎄🤩
Thank you so much! I’m happy you enjoy the channel🙂🦇 Merry Christmas!⛄️🎄🎅🏻
The young boy in the first story was fantastic and played his part just so very well as a boy who reveres his gramps and sees the good in him when his own family still only see an old jail bird who can never change his ways. A lovely story, these stories are just so bloody good, u Americans were so lucky to have these stories every weeknight for 8yrs, but i was only 6 in 1974 but being in Liverpool we cudnt have heard them anyway!!! Thank you RUclips as the amount of telly programmes and music there is, audiobooks, anything is just astounding and is along with Google one of 21st Centuries abiding media giants to which we all take for granted but wud be truly lost without!!!! So from little old me, ta YT ur a goodun!!!!
🕵️♀️👻🎧 Thank you for all the description in the info🤘 your hard work is very appreciated 🎬🖤😎

Thank you soo much i have been binge watching your channels for a while now!
i used to listen to these shows when I was working over in Germany (West Germany as it was known as then). it used to begin around 8pm on The American Forces Network (AFN). This was back in 1981 in Munchen (Munich). Being only 23yrs old too - such greta days with all the vigour of youth.
Regards, Dave (UK). xx
Thank you for sharing this collection. ❤ That Ring of Roses was pretty creepy. 😮😉
great
Thank you
Thanks
Robert Dryden is for me The Main Man of cbsrmt all the way!! His voice is so recognisable and he usually sorry ALWAYS stars in great stories and plays characters that he gives such strength but I'm a Dryden Groupie if there is such a thing ha ha there is now!!!! From an Englishman who loves this series with a fervour!!!
The young son is just beautiful, such a kind soul, of course it's an act but he plays the part to a tee!!
Wow. Haven't even thought of this in years and years. When we were really, really little in the early 60's, my brother and I each had identical transistor radios and would listen to this in our beds with the earplugs so our parents couldn't hear but we could still whisper to each other. Too many times to count we scared ourselves silly and would end up sleeping together in one twin bed. Until the night the UFO came ...
With a name like Smuckers it has to be good.

I wish that his image of his young wife merged together with his current aged wife.
They was recreating that night from years ago.
They went to the park..etc
Why no just pick up where they left off..
I feel if he was sincere with her she would have went on the trip.
the guy is rich..why not leave the company with a manager and just take off around the world.
Now she is dead and he is in jail.
Everyones life is over.
Dude was just pycho.
This was a story of a guy who just mentally broke because of his regrets.
