It’s amazing to think about this was how life was in 1956. I am not that old or young anymore but I feel very fortunate to have lived in the era pre internet. It seems internet and especially social media has put outrageous and horrible behavior into overdrive. If some people only knew how much more innocent time existed prior to about 2008.
Oh, it might've seemed innocent, but you know what they say about ignorance being bliss. A lot of horrible behavior still happened back then, but kept quiet and local -- what the internet helped along is people being able to broadcast that stuff to a global audience.
I listen to OTR in one form or another every evening. Wild Bill Hickok mostly, then CBS Mystery Theater, then Bob Bailey's Johnny Dollar. Threw my TV away in 2016.

I try to take a break from Johnny Dollar long enough to forget some of the plots. Never works, too memorable! OTR was before my time but I started buying OTR vinyl in the late 70s. There is nothing like it. Whenever I've had too much of screens, it's wonderful to just listen. Especially when the writing, acting, and production are so high-quality.
The only thing I still don't get (and I've listened more than once-it's one of my favorites) is that, since Dr. Shepard and his mother virtually had NO relationship, why set HER up as beneficiary?
In 1956 I was 9yrs old, what a long strange trip it been.
Haven't heard about Johnny Dollar since 1970. Stationed in Japan. Listened to FEN radio late at night when this show came on. Good memories.

I may be new to "Yours Truly Johnny Dollar" but I am hooked. What an era...never again, the same way...awesome.

Bob is the BEST
I like how you add the pictures of the actors in each episode.
This was a great story - cheap, perhaps, but great. 13 Dec 2024

A semi regular on JD shows, Virginia Gregg. And “Phil Crosby”? Bing’s son???
Johnny Dollar

❤Binging on YTJD almost think hes real😊
Great story.
And sad. Paul Forbes was right. They could’ve waited till he was dead. It was impatience and unrequited love that caused this whole mess.
