I am a 65 year old lady who discovered Moby through the Bourne films. During the COVID pandemic I was diagnosed with lung cancer. My only family are in Italy, I live in the UK and felt very alone. Throughout surgeries and treatment Moby’s music gave me such strength and comfort. I am so grateful there are artists of his talent in the world.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts, they have touched me deeply. I wish everyone good health, happiness and peace. ❤️

It was 2000 and I was in year 9 (Aussie here) and I bought the PLAY CD at HMV... I would take a train to school everyday and for an hour I would have it on repeat. This song alone would be played at 6-7am sitting on the train watching all the houses go by thinking where I’ll be when I’m an adult. I’m now 36 with 2 boys and this song still gets me every time. Thank you.

    • @CHAD-fr4hh
      @CHAD-fr4hh 3 года назад

Oh wow. I thought I was the only one...
That song really just reminds me of the good times of the past
And I'm naturally a very nostalgic person
And whenever I hear a song from the past
I instantly feel those feelings really intensely. It's a hard feeling to describe
      Because since it's so specific
But what you had just described
Is EXACTLY how I feel about "Porcelain".
If I had to pick a song that describes me, I'd most definitely pick that song. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

This song is older than me, but now being an adult while hearing this and various other songs at random points in my life feels a bit strange... although I never feel strong emotions with music like some other people do it definitely feels nice to hear something you used to hear in the past again. It's almost comforting when a lot of the world is constantly changing and evolving around you.

When I first heard the original in 2000, it made me yearn for something I never experienced..... Today, I heard this version for the first time, and it's like a bittersweet bookend to something I will never be able to explain. The zenith of Ecstacy, the nadir of Despair, and all that was in-between, before and after....
And now? Well maybe contentment, for the first time. It took me 43 years of existence, but it was worth it.

The musical intelligence of Moby is formidable. I bought the Reprise album at the second that it was released. Vinyl, of course. It is hard to not feel a single emotion at all at any of the songs, the Reprise album touches something deep in a person and takes you to a place uncharted in your mind for a little while. What else to say, than this is one of the best albums I have in my collection thank you Moby for this beautiful voyage and hitting me right there where I thought I did build thick walls, only to see them crippled by a few simple words and rhythms throughout the whole Reprise album and make it so special it edges my mind in ways I couldn’t imagine.

It will remain a very reflective and melancholic piece of music - those strings take me back to the late 90's before 9/11, Terrorism, Corona, all of the craziness in the world, its sad but uplifting in a spiritual way. We are all leaving this place, but how ? let's leave it better than we came to know it. Peace to all.

This song has been a frequent friend in my journey back to mental health. I first heard it when I had reached the nadir. I hear it now at the apogee, like breaking through the clouds into the sun. The sample (now live) from Exodus is the icing on the cake. This and My Weakness; great.

I discovered Moby in 2001 when a friend gave me his double CD where they are Porcelain, Natural Blues, etc and I always use his music for work presentations or as background music for a dinner because besides being an incredible music, it accompanies very well in everything ! Exactly a month ago today, my mother died in Argentina (I live in the UK) and I did not allow myself to listen to music or smile or anything like that because I thought I was doing it with guilt as I did not deserve to feel good in the face of such a loss, but Moby's music helped me to get out of that darkness and sadness little by little and accompanies this sad moment but seeing it from another perspective and I can't wait for his new work to come out because I think it's going to be great!

I think this song is about the death of the selfish ego, and then becoming one with the living Cosmos. It is about this process happening during the breakup of a long relationship. By becoming nothing, you become everything.

I associate this song with my dad, he lives in another country during one visit when I was eight at the time, there was a moby playlist playing in the background and out of many songs I only remembered that one. Unforunately I didn't know the title until many years later when I came across this masterpiece by accident since then I have been listening to it every day.

I was 20 when this was released, that Moby - Play, was the soundtrack of that summer. Remember working on a fast food restaurant making money for buying a ticket for a music festival with my friends by the sea in Benicassim, Spain. We were young, unstoppable, fearless, happy, innocent, nothing to lose, all green lights, exploring, discovering, the sea, the sun, the beach, love, sex, getting high, more love, living the present, absorbing each second, squeezing life... This songs always take me back to those particular and priceless moments like it was yesterday, I feel it in my guts. Actually, there were some moments in my life it was hard to listen to this song. It's one of those, you know what I mean. Even though I'm happy with my actual living some tears have rolled down my cheeks remembering those days. Thanks Moby for making so beautiful songs and melodies.
