Tbh I'm on a decent mid/high tier pc setup. I've had problems with games recently like hogwarts legacy. If a game isn't optimised well enough then I struggle to even get 60fps at 1440p high but in another game I can max it and get into the 120s/140s. I thought sons of the forest would struggle on my 3070 (to get decent settings that is) but actually hits over 80fps on the higher settings at 1440p. For an early access title it's running near perfect. I get more stutters in the orginal game than the sequal. 3070 5600x.

@@_FIow well you can eat anything raw and drink any water with 0 risk of sickness. Food is everywhere, the combat is ez, and you only need shelter to save the game and skip night time. All of the survival aspects do not matter

@@12345langham I haven't played SOTF but I have The Forest , I found the more simple survival mechanics a little boring , is SOTF more challenging than The Forest? I get it's not as challenging survival wise as green hell but I'm hopeful it's better than The first Forest game (which I still loved ) For me personally I love the difficulty and mico-management needs of Green Hell, I did end up turning off the leach settings tho and even the sanity , kept sanity on leaches on my first playthrough but turned off for dlc. If you are on PC you can mod green hell to make it easier, including console commands for adding more stuff like good equipment and some first aid on hand . Green Hell as I mentioned also has custom difficulty you can remove sanity , leaches even remove poisonous animals from your game but keep nutrient depletion high. So you might have snakes on but turn off stingrays and spiders so you get bitten less. The leach feature though I think everybody could do without it's just annoying.
Don’t listen to this guy, sons of the forest is 110% the better option, the base building and graphics are so much better, just the overall gameplay of sons of the forest is alot more enjoyable
This games also has canibals who likes to dress in ppls intestants after eating them, and putting ppl on poles. You can also shoot them with the arrow and stab them with the spear, and if they don't back off you can cut off the head of one of them chasing the rest holding the head in front of you running after them.
This is early access btw, game isn't fully released, devs said there is a lot of work they still need to do, but the don't want to delay. This game is going to be really cool when it's done.

Their AI is pretty good. I'm trying to do a 'peaceful' run where I don't outright attack the cannibals so I have an uneasy peace. That is until I ran into a camp with a masked one in it. He was wielding a whole ass boat motor and looked at me like "so you have chosen death."
It's a game many people already know about. Considering it's in early access and the devs actually listen to feedback, also it's leaf armor not a gillie suit
And you also have the best allies, one man that has his memories forgotten will follow any ridiculous demands you have and succeed, one woman that has 3 and 3 with aimbot, unlimited ammo, and she is a huge scaredy cat.
@K1ZLAR yea I commented this 6 months ago when it came out I was finding the unmarked caves that were actually just exits from the other caves where you couldn't go backwards. Just didn't know that's what it was at the time lol

Both the Forest and Sons of the Forest are well worth their money! I remember running through the forest close to sundown and it startled me when one of those cannibals ran up on me! That's when you nope outta there in the other direction. The most tedious part was constantly gathering resources, but they've given you some help in the form of Kelvin, in Sons.

But Sons of the Forest is much more action focused whereas green hell is mostly constantly keeping yourself fed and dealing with the various ops of the rainforest. …and the leeches, the goddam leeches….. And watch ur step, u don’t want to step on a spider again… I mean, it’s challenging in it’s own right for sure. Goes to show that the real world does NOT need to be exaggerated… But in SotF, when your not building ur house or gathering food and supplies, your constantly fighting for your life with these tribes of cannibals and mutated monstrosities! To advance the story, u gotta explore all these caves and underground locations(again, with cannibals and mutants). It focuses way more on horror and combat.
The ultimate survival game is being reincarnated forever on a planet of insane humans and trying to find a healthy takeaway meal with an electric car with no charging station available.
Don’t forget you have two options when building you can do a blueprint sort of thing where you just add materials or you just chop trees and lay them down cut them which doesn’t seem like much but you can build a whole base with logs
I know this is pretty late, but the game still had quite a few bugs and annoying things in it. A few annoyances are: -You can never respawn at a base if you die, even if you are nearby that base -The game map is WAY too big, which is especially noticable because you have to go all across it to complete the story. It took me at least 5-10 more hours to complete the story because of this. -Some crafting recipes are unnecessarily expensive. For example you need duct tape to make a spear, when all it adds is a useless grip on the spear. -Some weapons are either too weak or too powerful. The primitve crafted bow does hardly any damage at all, and the arrow drop on it is so bad that I stopped using it entirely until I got the modern bow. It is not balanced well unlike the first game. The chainsaw does virtually no damage despite it being, well, a chainsaw. The guns felt a bit strange after playing the first game, but they were well balanced. I found that the melee combat was fun but many weapons didn't do enough damage, which was especially notable when I started my second playthrough on hard difficulty. -The game transitioning away from the bluelrint building system and more into the custom system is nice, but manually building some things takes too long, ie; building and spiking walls. Many buildings dont work together well or at all, or only work in some orders. -Cannibal camps feel too frequent. -There are no rafts, which is a missed opportunity considering how big the map is. -Crafting can get very tedious, because everything has a unique animation. If you could craft in bulk and do the animation only once or something, that would be nice. -Transportation methods that they added to the game are terrible. The knight wheel thing is useless because it boots you off when you run into something, and was a joke anyways. The golf cart is good but since your in a forest (duh) it has limited use. -Not enough weapons and things to make considering the amount of resources that are given to you (especially rope). -Farming seems very useless. Eating berries gives little food, and it seems farming is only useful for the cooking pot recipes, which seem cool. It is a shame that farming has been nerfed and it is also a shame that most food methods are useless, becauce you will find a stupid amount of MRE's. Anyway game is good fun, but needs more work. It is also in early access so much of this will probably get fixed/tweaked

Green hell is good but the building in sons of the forest blows it out the water
I know this is pretty late, but the game still had quite a few bugs and annoying things in it. A few annoyances are:
-You can never respawn at a base if you die, even if you are nearby that base
-The game map is WAY too big, which is especially noticable because you have to go all across it to complete the story. It took me at least 5-10 more hours to complete the story because of this.
-Some crafting recipes are unnecessarily expensive. For example you need duct tape to make a spear, when all it adds is a useless grip on the spear.
-Some weapons are either too weak or too powerful. The primitve crafted bow does hardly any damage at all, and the arrow drop on it is so bad that I stopped using it entirely until I got the modern bow. It is not balanced well unlike the first game. The chainsaw does virtually no damage despite it being, well, a chainsaw. The guns felt a bit strange after playing the first game, but they were well balanced. I found that the melee combat was fun but many weapons didn't do enough damage, which was especially notable when I started my second playthrough on hard difficulty.
-The game transitioning away from the bluelrint building system and more into the custom system is nice, but manually building some things takes too long, ie; building and spiking walls. Many buildings dont work together well or at all, or only work in some orders.
-Cannibal camps feel too frequent.
-There are no rafts, which is a missed opportunity considering how big the map is.
-Crafting can get very tedious, because everything has a unique animation. If you could craft in bulk and do the animation only once or something, that would be nice.
-Transportation methods that they added to the game are terrible. The knight wheel thing is useless because it boots you off when you run into something, and was a joke anyways. The golf cart is good but since your in a forest (duh) it has limited use.
-Not enough weapons and things to make considering the amount of resources that are given to you (especially rope).
-Farming seems very useless. Eating berries gives little food, and it seems farming is only useful for the cooking pot recipes, which seem cool. It is a shame that farming has been nerfed and it is also a shame that most food methods are useless, becauce you will find a stupid amount of MRE's.
Anyway game is good fun, but needs more work. It is also in early access so much of this will probably get fixed/tweaked

This game is just "ok". Its a fun weekend with a friend. Its more like a co-op campaign.
The full release isn't even out yet
It would be if it didn't make even the most recent pcs run at 100 degrees..
The long dark is in my opinion the BEST GAME EVER MADE

The caves in this game are amazing, I friend got me into this and we got the katana fkn awesome

Pfft.. Medieval Dynasty, Green Hell, The Forest, Infected... What more could you ask.
