Reminds me of barrel melting day when end of year rolls around and there's excess munitions. Budgets are based on yearly usage, so if you don't use it, you lose it. If they give a base $2mil in ammunition, they're gonna use $2mil in ammunition.

@Blakethornton66. You would be surprised. I was on the range hanging back as our support company was using our 240 Limas to qualify. In the midst of a conversation with a few buddies, I noticed I didn't hear a pause in the sequences of firing. When I looked at the firing line, 2 barrels were colored like the surface of the sun. I was a SPC at that time so I had an e6 deal with it. Th barrels were warped and required a lot of shop work but I honestly think they made new barrels for them.

You do realize we use tactics that require flawless timing and quick communication in order to execute without commiting fratricide. If we are providing support by fire on a building, our objective is to suppress the enemy and then we have to carefully listen for the "shift fire command" so we can stop shooting at that building when the soldiers go in. Being a machine gunner is hard but being an assistant gunner is even more difficult

Army strong 💪my respects and condolences to the fallen three at base 22 for their unwaivering sacrifice and bravery above all else I trained with the navy in 2014 - 2015 while in Coronado CA San Diego and moved thereafter to Philadelphia where I decided to join the army because my relative was already in the us navy and was stationed in San Diego at the time I got no response from them in retrospect to my enlistment thereafter which in turn my relatives served this country thru all four branches of the armed services Army , Navy , Marine Corps and Air Force. Respects alwayz to those out there giving em hell on the battlefield that's why I walked into a recruiting station many times and asked for a combat job and chose to be on active duty 💯💯💯

They pick up brass casings and disintegrating links.The brass is sold to a private company that reloads the ammo. The links are retained and reused. So, the amount of money used is lower than it would be otherwise. Soldiers pay taxes too.
