For the intake pipe, the reason it works is, because the intake is under the " global water level" of the map. As long as the pipe intake is under that line, it can pull water into your system.
A good way to see where the global water level is, to go into third person and have the camera go below the terrain. It's been a while since I played, but since moving the third person camera doesn't affect your characters directional facing, you can have the pipe equipped, look under the terrain, and see where you need to place it to reach the water.

One tip I have to easily gather tons of poop is to force feed a creature like a phiomia with stimberries. It will make them constantly poop for every 10 or so berries you feed it and you can give the loads of poop to dung beetles, fill compost bins or even just use directly on the plots. I usually keep one near my greenhouses for easy access to poop at all times.
This is what I do since I really only need to fill maybe two or three dozen plots. If I needed more I would build a toilet but I don't actually need that many ingredients to make kibbles to tame dinos
I have a "do not attack" agreement by making a peace offering box. I put all my "abundant" crops in an unlocked storage box so people around me can take them.
Works 95% of the time.
I've seen the other 5 percent of people in multiplayer games, and the violent shakedowns, the destruction, the...Yeah.
What i do is surround my green house full of crops in a double walled metal box

Large plots hold more water and can usually grow using only rain, without irrigation pipes. This is especially useful on rafts and platforms where pipes aren't allowed to be placed.

You can also use a snow owl pellets as fertiliser as well. So if you have access to them and are already using the pellets for gachas. You can spare some for your crops.
Also worth mentioning Berries and veggies can go in a fridges
But the x y z's don't,
we store are (flashbangs) The plant z crop in a preserving bin next to the plant so we can grab and go for pvp.

I was told just let the pip clip in the plots, once that didn't work I tried to have it over the plot but that didn't do anything, this video confirms that I was on the right track but I needed to make an intake pip and a outpip thing. Thanks for the help

You can stack crop plots and put dung Beatles in cages instead of making a structure

Really cool video, very clear information.
Was easy to follow and listen to, direct and straightforward.
As an improvement you can actually have the water taps right on the ground and you should be able to build over the pipes or even put the pipes in the forms of a structure, the water taps can irrigate within a radius, not needing to be over top.
Also, if too far from water, you can make a box with no top and as long as it rains.
I like using stone for my setups and I put a brewery underneath a rooftop garden, all them extra berries go to beer.....not too useful, but nice to have on the side.

Rain can irrigate crops plots, but it not only limits you to open air single story farms with no greenhouse buff but also requires rain which isn't garunteed.
So I literally just made a greenhouse and wanted to start doing this but didn't know where to start then you drop this. Well I guess I'm not going to bed tonight

you can also stack 4 plots on top of each other to maximize space / efficiency. also makes for quicker gathering.
You can stack infinite if you use large plots

I'm trying to find info on a more advanced subject that I'm hoping you can help with. I'm moving my base onto a collection of s+ ocean platforms and I'm in single player mode so I don't have to worry about other players blowing anything up.
The Gachas are what I'm concerned about. I can't let them eat berries or they can starve. So I put the Gachas far away from the berry troughs but I'm not sure if they'll take & eat berries right from the crop plot. Neither the crop plots or Gachas show a range so I don't know where to put the greenhouse.
Can you give me any advice?

Tip: do not use a ladder in ghost mode. You will get stuck in a loop where you repeatedly fall through the map. Having done this. I can confirm that on the island, sorry, under the island everywhere... is water.
boss arenas and the ascension backgrounds are also under the map. You know when you are in space and going to the next ark? Yep that's underground.
"under the island everywhere is water" this may be due to the fact that the island is, in fact, a really cool guy who doesn't beat his wife and raises dodos with the hope of every man woman and child on planet ark to one day have their very own pet dodo to snuggle with at night.

How do you make a multi floor greenhouse without loosing the buffs on the lower floors?
On the 2nd double layer greenhouse design, will you still get the greenhouse benefits cuz it was not a basic design like your first one? I like the design with the spiral stairs better than the more simple design.
