I Used ChatGPT To Write My College Essays

  • Pray for me. And my education.
I used ChatGPT, a new artificial intelligence Chatbot from OpenAI, to write two of my college essays. Oh, and Dalle 2 made most of the thumbnail too. Thank you robots, we come in peace.
I can not stress enough, how hard it was for me to care about writing these papers, but hopefully my introduction paints a better picture. Am I even allowed to get in trouble for this? Technically it was the AI chat bot who did it, not me.
As always, hopefully you found this video quality 💜

@@KC-rf3gx Yeah only way I see is some essay writing software, that tracks keystrokes, time elapsed, etc, being forced as the norm. Praying that if they do use this, they leave face/eye tracking out of it.
Even still, how hard would it be to have an AI written paper on the side, and just retype it? Not too hard.
Bigger changes will probably be made to how courses are laid out, requiring students to show comprehension through other ways, to prove they actually learned things.

Before chat bot when taking assembler make your own JCL header and Footer, look at all the IBM guys in the class and their code on the mainframe just like the teacher does, choose the second best code and make a few more comments, change the run time and some of the order of the code, give the right answer because that is all the time the Professor has to look at 10,000 lines of code about searching the Yellow pages for 50 people.

When I heard of ChatGPT coming out…this was the exact story I was looking to hear.
I don’t have a single doubt this will work. It’s actually quite scary. English majors will be completely relieved of their mundane and repetitive essays they required to turn in. Capstone project reports will be written in bullet-point form for GPT and converted into essays. My emails will be written for me (“GPT, professionally write an email to thank my client James Karn for signing the documents”). School presentations will be auto-generated. Etc the list goes on for eternity.
This is wild. This is awesome. No doubt you’ll get an A. Looking forward to the update video or community post.

I had two essays that I strongly suspect were AI-generated--they were well-structured and had no errors but didn't fulfill the assignment which was a culmination of a number of research and analysis activities and got a D- and F. Students will get better at gaming the system but this is helpful for me--I teach and train other professors to teach writing intensive courses and you've given me some valuable insights.

If I can save some brain power on classes like this, so I can actually focus on things that matter, I'll gladly do it.
I see it more as a middle finger to the idea that you need a piece of paper for a real job, and getting that piece of paper costs more money and time than it should, more than a middle finger to my teacher specifically. Some people want to learn film, I don't.

Even when writing an essay your still exposed to learning new vocabulary words and harnessing a better skill for writing. Same thing with anything being used like coding for example, I think that it takes away from people. Some people will call it a tool that they use to do things but I think at the end of the day your only hurting yourself by using this technology

@@DubmanicGetFlazed not always true, learning a subject or skill from scratch without these tools to help assist you and do things for you that you will never learn will always be beneficial. If you have a strong foundation in a subject without taking shortcuts you’ll master what your trying to learn better than anyone else who’s not curious enough to learn it. I will say that using this technology most likely will be a must in the future to stay competitive in some sort of way, but most people will skip the fundamentals of what they’re trying to learn and have the AI assist them and do most of their work for them
