Considering all the educational chess channels I watch, I want to say this is an unusually good, clear, well-written video. Basic concepts and tips that will actually help people and are easy to understand. Very well done.

Go to Anna Cremling's channel of you want to actually learn about chess on not just watch pretty girls play chess. She does the best just of any RUclips channel. She is kind of cute too even if her voice can be a bit much.

@@toriless I find your comment rude and disrespectful. Also presumptuous about a person you don't know.
What they look like has nothing to do with the quality of content, or why I'm here. This is not primarily an educational chess channel, so of course I wouldn't come here specifically to learn about chess. But as an educator, writer and video creator myself, this is a good educational video all the same. I'm qualified to say so. If I wanted to learn about Chess on YT, I'd go to one of the four educationally-focused chess channels I'm already subscribed to, irrespective of whatever the presenter looks like.

Well said, Alex! One thing I'll add to the opposition section: if you're up a pawn, THINK before pushing the pawn! Because with one move, the opponent can take back the opposition. In general, if you can make a move that forces the two kings to be one rank apart, do it. And don't push the pawn until you know you have the opposition and can keep it :)

Just control the center of the board and you will win the game. If you are playing as white you can exchange a piece against black because we all know white piece advantage is a board control in early match. So if you are black do not exchange the piece in early until you can control the center of the board before you exchange.

I think the best way to remember to use your King during endgame is:
The King is King during daytime. (The beginning of the game til Midgame).
The King is an Assassin during nightime (Endgame) meaning, the King goes around assassinating pawns and advancing.

Open files, good bishops, knights, Colour complexes, Pins, stacking rooks, Battery. Use examples from famous positions in historical games from morphy era onwards. If you do them as a series i am sure it will be a hit.

I learned chess 20 years ago from my dad and played a handful of games but had a 101 level understanding. I finally picked it back up November of 2022 and went from 800 down to 675 now up to as high as 995. I love gotten rejected at 1,000 twice though and it’s frustrating. I think I need to spend more time studying and less time just playing endless games without taking time to analyze my mistakes. I hope to get to 1,400 by the end of this year so I can at least call myself an intermediate player
