Super sound from this end, your doberman is definitely in the know...btw you’re exhaustive detailed info about each horn you feature does not fall on deaf ears...your passion is recognized and embraced.
Bill; the sterling silver horns are very interesting. I just acquired this one back (after selling it to a guy, he was kind enough to sell it back to me). If you get one - let me know what you think of it. I'll be doing another video that compares a copper bell, sterling silver bell, and a brass bell. :)
I have this trumpet and ill never forget when I was in 7th grade my band teacher without my permission put this trumpet in the sink and it suffered serious water damage. Pissed me off so much
Joshua Hernandez Joshua; a lot of generic mouthpieces are Bach copies and can be pretty good. A lot of guys have at least two mouthpieces; one larger cup for a big, deep sound and one a it shallower for higher range. Here's a mouthpiece that I have and have used on a lot of my vids; it's a Marcinkiewicz 1.75. A good mouthpiece for upper range but not too harsh sounding. Some really good players have used this piece and its slightly shallower brother, the 1.5. Here's a listing; $20-$30 should get this piece... www.trumpetherald.com/marketplace.php?task=detail&id=74739&s=MARCINKIEWICZ-SHEW-MPCS
Joshua Hernandez Joshua; That's a tough decision - they're all making good horns. I'd play them each, or really check out the specs and pics and consider the best price. That's what I do on all my purchases; hard comparisons.
Joshua Hernandez Joshua; greetings. When I get a new (and they're only new to me, always used) horn in I take the trumpet completely apart. All the slides come out and I was each piece with a mixture of vinegar and dishwashing liquid. I use a snake (a very bendable cleaning piece about 15 inches long with bristle brushes on each end [and they are cheap to buy]) to go through the whole horn and all the slides that the snake will fit through. It's amazing how much crud I see in horns. :) I've actually marveled at the amount of stuff that can come out of a trumpet;l I wonder how some of them were actually played. Many, I'm sure were sold because they were poor players but after my cleaning they sound very fine. If you don't have a snake you can still take your horn apart and run warm (but not too hot if your horn is lacquered) water through all the pieces. The force of water would probably dislodge any major problems. A good snake is a huge help in getting a horn clean, though. Good luck! :)
caleb adams Caleb; Greetings. I've recently purchased a few vintage horns. I'm going to try to make some RUclips vids tomorrow, Monday, May 11. Another King Silvertone trumpet, a King Silversonic cornet and a Buescher trumpet. The Silvertone and Buescher trumpets are from the '30's and the Silversonic cornet is from '65. Now I'll have to sell some of them, so I'll include the info on what I'm selling when I first put up the RUclips vids. Thanks for asking, Caleb. Have a great day!
Caleb; You have good taste. :) And lucky for you it'll be up for sale before too long. I can't keep all the horns I do videos with, so they most all come up for sale shortly after the vids are done. I'll put a note in the comments about where I'm advertising the horn(s). It really is a very nice trumpet. Take care and continued best wishes, Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan - I've been looking at these, and your review is very helpful.

Yes, that would be hard to take. Very hard.
Are the pre WW2 french horns any good?
I noticed older Trumpets don't usually have the 1st piston tuning slide saddle for tunning while playing. Is it needed or not?
Would you prefer a bach tr300h2 trumpet or a Jupiter capital edition trumpet
Joshua Hernandez I've never played a Jupiter Capital Edition but I did have a Bach 200 or 300 horn once with a Strad bell on it; it played fantastic.
Would u prefer a jupiter Carnegie edition trumpet or Yamaha advantage
Joshua Hernandez Josh; Greetings. I haven't played either one, sorry to say.
