  • In our third and final webinar from The Perfect Storm of Extraction, Poverty, and Climate Change Webinar Series, we hosted a panel discussion with community leaders interviewed in The Perfect Storm of Extraction, Poverty, and Climate Change. The voices of community members and representatives were highlighted through the report, as we explored the “pre-existing” economic, health, and infrastructure conditions across six Frontline communities. Panelists from the East End of Bridgeport Connecticut, East Las Vegas, and Blackfeet Nation shared their perspectives on local conditions residents face in their communities and discussed their community-created solutions to climate vulnerability. The panel discussion highlighted community-led projects and programs addressing 1) economic development, 2) climate adaptation/environmental restoration, and 3) urban planning and renewal.
    Featuring:
Christina Smith, President/CEO of Groundwork Bridgeport
Termaine Awanaakii Edmo, Climate Change Coordinator for the Blackfeet Environmental Office
Jose Rivera, Environmental Justice Organizer for Make the Road Nevada
