I’ve been thinking about the work you do with ASMR and how calming it is for the person (and how much you honor them by verbalizing how much you value them and their unique gifts). I’ve been thinking about how much ASMR would be beneficial for people with disabilities, mental illness, dementia, and those suffering from anxiety and depression. Hello Daniel, I know that forced committals can be terrifying. It has happened to me on a few occasions for my schizoaffective disorder. I too got a needle in the buttocks because I refused to take medication. I’m sorry to hear about the way you were discharged from that hospital. Being released in a paper gown must have been horrible. I was once released from a hospital with my own shirt but paper hospital shorts. I got a lot of looks from people when I walked out to the area mall like that. You’re completely right that no one can advocate for you except for you. When I did finally get the help I needed, it was because I refused to give up. I’d be discharged from hospitals in 5 days and nothing was solved. I finally found a hospital that took longer term patients and had the police drive me there. I was in the hospital for 2 months, but it saved my life. No more psychosis and I developed a strong grip on reality. I pray that you too get the help that you need and that you won’t give up until you are healthy again. Life doesn’t have to be this hard. Just remember that your life is valuable and people care so much about you, but don’t always know how to help. I hope my personal struggle with schizoaffective disorder will help others get the help they need, no matter how intimidating or terrifying it might be. I’m rooting for you, Daniel. Keep fighting.

My fiance has this diease as well he was fine and one day something changed it was so scary for both of us took a ywsr too get a diagnosis i called for help and instead of ambulance they sent 14 cops and put guns to our heads and asked if we did pcp we dont do no drugs thwy need better trained people this not right how they treat people. They shot him 4 times in the butt nothing was working its so sad and im glad your brave enough too share. I had too put him in the hospital last night he was in physcosis for 4 days at home and i didnt know how too handle it no more. And u always think hes gonna hate me but he would hate himslef if he hurt me during that time. I hope one day they find a cure
You can't help everyone in life, most people are still good. To be honest it's pretty obvious that he's the one who's broken. If it weren't for the grace of others people like these would have no chance of survival.

When you said “the system is broken” I broke down crying. Yes, it is. But I think more and more people are waking up to that, learning to connect, and how to be here for each other. It is possible but extremely hard looking at the political climate right now. It takes years and years of voting and changing the American culture to achieve, which to say is not an easy task. There is too many 'why should i pay' type of people out there.
The more the government is involved in health care the less will be available for people who need it. You will have to prove you need it after seeing doctor after doctor after referral after referral. And then you will have to wait for an opening. Talk to anyone who has Medicare Medicade or military health insurance. I wish more people would understand that. The government doesn't care about you. If you live or die. They only care about your vote and your tax bill. Volunteer if you can. Donate if you cant. But dont give the government more power over our lives. And let them have the power to decide if investing in his treatment is a viable investment. Cananda and there Social medicine people are turned down for life saving surgery's all the time. Because there to old or the success rate isn't high enough. These problems dont exist here right now. Please look into other countries and the problems they face before asking to bring those problems here.
@@devinh3621 I have medicaid with my two kids and I've had 20 years now. My oldest still gets it at 20 and gets mental health treatment just fine since onset wt 25yr old. It's the individual clinical care or lack there of from medical staff. Multiple mis diagnosis, multiple psychiatrist, etc. Otherwise, I've had fantastic care this entire time. 3 stays in psych hospital. I am so very thankful for our Govt run healthcare ❤
@@bekajean_2764 I'm sure you are exaggerating. My wife has Medicade my autistic son has it as well. My son is 3 and we are going thru the "label phase" he is in OT, and Speach Therapy. Has been making progress with sign language as he doesn't speak. But the gov demanded this hearing test to rule out hearing problems. We had to go to 2 inconclusive hearing tests at some geriatric hearing aid place which they were not designed to work for children as each speaker lights up when a tone is played. Becuase his result was unsure they threatened to take away his coverage for lack of progress. We spend days jumping thru hoops to find a doctor that specialist in children that accepts his insurance. The closest place is 4 hours away the soonest appt is 4 weeks from now. And he has to be put under anesthetic for the test. Somthing that is very scary and risky for someone so young. I highly doubt your coverage has been smooth sailing. If you have ever needed anything more than your local hospital it's a differnt aninal entirely. And dont get me started on the limited dental work offered.
The worst shit happens to the best people. Stay strong. Keep updating us. You have a really, really kind soul-we need more of them on this planet. And yes, our system is terrible.

Hello Daniel. I recently found your interview in SBSK. When I was about 10 I was diagnosed with severe depression, personality disorder and GAD. I quit "therapy"(I shouldn't call it that since it was basically me going from time to time to different specialists) when I was about 16 because I felt it made me weak. I'm 24 now and I never really understood how much it can affect me or how mistaken I was, till I met you. You are the reason behind me seeking help today. You've given me enough courage and strength to do so. A million times thank you for being you, for existing and for saving me.

Let me tell you I've been well since I wrote that, I've had more downs than ups, specially when you're in a relationship and your partner struggles to just understand the chaos your mind is, but thankfully, she is slowly teaching me I'm not a burden to her. I'm still looking for a therapist focused on my diagnosis, it's been hard since due to Covid-19 most of them are doing on-line sessions and that isn't going to do much for me... I have slept with my baby blanket every day for my whole life. 32 this November and even when in a relationship sleeping next to a partner, my cuddling was always on my blanket lol. I smell it for comfort.... Kinda odd maybe but it works and I love it. I wish so badly we could post photos to RUclips comments right now.

I agree. I live in California, so it may be different, but when a person is without available clothing for discharge, there are charitable organizations (Salvation army, St Vincent De Paul, Goodwill Industries) that can supply a needed shirt, coat, and pants, and many hospitals can and do arrange that for people. Seems like discharging someone in the rain in a paper gown goes against the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm".

I know my comment in going to be lost in a sea of comments but im going to type this anyhow. I am a 48 year old woman who has spent what feels like a lifetime of mental health disorders and zero understanding. I was diagnosed with depression back in my 20's and panic attacks started in my mid 20's. Severe and undetectable. I was raising 3 kids and had a failing marriage at the time. By 30 my marriage had dissolved and I found myself alone with my sadness but I had created a world of self harm, irrational fears and was gravitating to my "favorite person" in the form of a relationship that was so toxic and it lasted for 10 years. I was suicidal, afraid to answer phone calls, see people, work was impossible and doctor visits were just filled with me trying to explain something that didnt make sense to me, let alone a doctor who just prescribed pills for depression and told me to exercise more. Into my early 40s I was finally diagnosed with BPD, PTSD, Panic Disorder and GAD and Binge Eating Disorder. I finally had a doctor who understood me. I understood why I was doing the things I was doing even though everyone around me still couldn't understand. I still have so much self loathing because I wasn't the mother I should have been or could have been. I have gotten a lot of help through therapy. Its not a cure, this is stuff that will never go away and that I must deal with every second of every day. My mood shifts in seconds, minutes, hours and anyone in my wrath at the moment it shifts goes down with my ship whether they like it or not and it tears me apart. I hate that I couldn't have a "normal" life like my friends (I dont have friends anymore) family, neighbours etc. My whole life is worry, anxiety, severe panic attacks and thoughts that never stop, rarely let me sleep normally. But I didn't start typing this to dump all my things on you, my brain just don't stop so this just flowed out, I wrote this because when I connect with someone who understands these feelings I so desperately want to connect and say HEY I GET YOU! I AM HERE FOR YOU! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Because I would want someone to do that for me too! Stay strong in this moment. I appreciate your channel, your openness and your strength.
I understand this all too well. What makes it even worse is these "doctors" just try to push certain medications on you because they have some kind of deal to prescribe it, too many in that field don't seem to actually care and then my family wonders why I don't even care to seek treatment. I don't have what it takes to make all these phone calls, go through all of these first time meets OVER AND OVER again and again but my family thinks that since I am an adult that these things should just be easy for me, that if I want the help then I would just do these things. They THINK they understand but they have no idea. They can't know what it is like to be trapped inside of this head unless they've dealt with it personally. I'm also just so fucking sick of hearing the words "because you aren't on your meds" too, as if my feelings are being invalidated because I have mental illnesses. Any time you feel something that a normal doesn't agree with, it's because "you're mentally ill" and your feelings are "just the illness talking" and then they wonder why you don't let anyone in.

Hello Mr. Daniel, I will try and choose my words carefully here. All my intentions are good when I say this. Growing up my mother had paranoid schizophrenia, and I never understood it or her. It definitely didn't help when other people would tell me that she was crazy, it really deteriorated my relationship with her where to the point I would try and ghost her. Unfortunately when I was 16 she passed. Later on I'm starting to have psychosis myself... and now I finally can understand some of what she went through. It sucks because after I understand it she is already gone from this world. I would love for the chance to tell her that I understand her finally, it's my biggest regret that I live with. When I saw your videos on Special Books by Special Kids, it gave me a huge sense of relief.... I miss my mom a lot and seeing your story really helped with my stress of my psychosis and my regret that was eating away at me. I now found your channel and I will be watching regularly as you post. Don't ever give up Mr. Daniel, I want to fight this mental illness alongside you. Thank you Mr. Daniel!

Hi Daniel. I saw your most recent vid on SBSK as well as seeing the first one from before. When watching the most recent vid, when you described feeling like a waste of space, I broke down immediately. I wasn't expecting it but I do have a long history of depression and other mental health issues. I'm also on the Autism spectrum. I haven't had a job since last year. I went from a perfect A student, Boy Scout, saxophone player to a 29 year old man that still lives at home with his parents. I live in a small town in Louisiana with no job prospects that aren't retail or fast food. I don't qualify for housing and the apartments are too expensive for any basic job to cover rent for. Anyway, just wanted to say, we're all with you and will support you.

I know that forced committals can be terrifying. It has happened to me on a few occasions for my schizoaffective disorder. I too got a needle in the buttocks because I refused to take medication.
I’m sorry to hear about the way you were discharged from that hospital. Being released in a paper gown must have been horrible. I was once released from a hospital with my own shirt but paper hospital shorts. I got a lot of looks from people when I walked out to the area mall like that.
You’re completely right that no one can advocate for you except for you. When I did finally get the help I needed, it was because I refused to give up. I’d be discharged from hospitals in 5 days and nothing was solved. I finally found a hospital that took longer term patients and had the police drive me there. I was in the hospital for 2 months, but it saved my life. No more psychosis and I developed a strong grip on reality. I pray that you too get the help that you need and that you won’t give up until you are healthy again. Life doesn’t have to be this hard. Just remember that your life is valuable and people care so much about you, but don’t always know how to help. I hope my personal struggle with schizoaffective disorder will help others get the help they need, no matter how intimidating or terrifying it might be. I’m rooting for you, Daniel. Keep fighting.

My fiance has this diease as well he was fine and one day something changed it was so scary for both of us took a ywsr too get a diagnosis i called for help and instead of ambulance they sent 14 cops and put guns to our heads and asked if we did pcp we dont do no drugs thwy need better trained people this not right how they treat people. They shot him 4 times in the butt nothing was working its so sad and im glad your brave enough too share. I had too put him in the hospital last night he was in physcosis for 4 days at home and i didnt know how too handle it no more. And u always think hes gonna hate me but he would hate himslef if he hurt me during that time. I hope one day they find a cure

When you said “the system is broken” I broke down crying. Yes, it is. But I think more and more people are waking up to that, learning to connect, and how to be here for each other. It is possible to build a new way. We help us. Thanks for sharing your spirit and strength. Sending only good thoughts your way.
It is possible but extremely hard looking at the political climate right now. It takes years and years of voting and changing the American culture to achieve, which to say is not an easy task. There is too many 'why should i pay' type of people out there.
The more the government is involved in health care the less will be available for people who need it. You will have to prove you need it after seeing doctor after doctor after referral after referral. And then you will have to wait for an opening. Talk to anyone who has Medicare Medicade or military health insurance. I wish more people would understand that. The government doesn't care about you. If you live or die. They only care about your vote and your tax bill. Volunteer if you can. Donate if you cant. But dont give the government more power over our lives. And let them have the power to decide if investing in his treatment is a viable investment. Cananda and there Social medicine people are turned down for life saving surgery's all the time. Because there to old or the success rate isn't high enough. These problems dont exist here right now. Please look into other countries and the problems they face before asking to bring those problems here.

@@devinh3621 I have medicaid with my two kids and I've had 20 years now. My oldest still gets it at 20 and gets mental health treatment just fine since onset wt 25yr old. It's the individual clinical care or lack there of from medical staff. Multiple mis diagnosis, multiple psychiatrist, etc. Otherwise, I've had fantastic care this entire time. 3 stays in psych hospital. I am so very thankful for our Govt run healthcare ❤
@@bekajean_2764 I'm sure you are exaggerating. My wife has Medicade my autistic son has it as well. My son is 3 and we are going thru the "label phase" he is in OT, and Speach Therapy. Has been making progress with sign language as he doesn't speak. But the gov demanded this hearing test to rule out hearing problems. We had to go to 2 inconclusive hearing tests at some geriatric hearing aid place which they were not designed to work for children as each speaker lights up when a tone is played. Becuase his result was unsure they threatened to take away his coverage for lack of progress. We spend days jumping thru hoops to find a doctor that specialist in children that accepts his insurance. The closest place is 4 hours away the soonest appt is 4 weeks from now. And he has to be put under anesthetic for the test. Somthing that is very scary and risky for someone so young. I highly doubt your coverage has been smooth sailing. If you have ever needed anything more than your local hospital it's a differnt aninal entirely. And dont get me started on the limited dental work offered.

Hello Daniel. I recently found your interview in SBSK. When I was about 10 I was diagnosed with severe depression, personality disorder and GAD. I quit "therapy"(I shouldn't call it that since it was basically me going from time to time to different specialists) when I was about 16 because I felt it made me weak. I'm 24 now and I never really understood how much it can affect me or how mistaken I was, till I met you. You are the reason behind me seeking help today. You've given me enough courage and strength to do so. A million times thank you for being you, for existing and for saving me.

Let me tell you I've been well since I wrote that, I've had more downs than ups, specially when you're in a relationship and your partner struggles to just understand the chaos your mind is, but thankfully, she is slowly teaching me I'm not a burden to her. I'm still looking for a therapist focused on my diagnosis, it's been hard since due to Covid-19 most of them are doing on-line sessions and that isn't going to do much for me... But I'm hopeful, as long as I wish to get better, I know, sooner or later, I'm going to find what I'm looking for.

I have slept with my baby blanket every day for my whole life. 32 this November and even when in a relationship sleeping next to a partner, my cuddling was always on my blanket lol. I agree. I live in California, so it may be different, but when a person is without available clothing for discharge, there are charitable organizations (Salvation army, St Vincent De Paul, Goodwill Industries) that can supply a needed shirt, coat, and pants, and many hospitals can and do arrange that for people. Seems like discharging someone in the rain in a paper gown goes against the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm".

I know my comment in going to be lost in a sea of comments but im going to type this anyhow. I am a 48 year old woman who has spent what feels like a lifetime of mental health disorders and zero understanding. I was diagnosed with depression back in my 20's and panic attacks started in my mid 20's. Severe and undetectable. I was raising 3 kids and had a failing marriage at the time. By 30 my marriage had dissolved and I found myself alone with my sadness but I had created a world of self harm, irrational fears and was gravitating to my "favorite person" in the form of a relationship that was so toxic and it lasted for 10 years. I was suicidal, afraid to answer phone calls, see people, work was impossible and doctor visits were just filled with me trying to explain something that didnt make sense to me, let alone a doctor who just prescribed pills for depression and told me to exercise more. Into my early 40s I was finally diagnosed with BPD, PTSD, Panic Disorder and GAD and Binge Eating Disorder. I finally had a doctor who understood me. I understood why I was doing the things I was doing even though everyone around me still couldn't understand. I still have so much self loathing because I wasn't the mother I should have been or could have been. I have gotten a lot of help through therapy. Its not a cure, this is stuff that will never go away and that I must deal with every second of every day. My mood shifts in seconds, minutes, hours and anyone in my wrath at the moment it shifts goes down with my ship whether they like it or not and it tears me apart. I hate that I couldn't have a "normal" life like my friends (I dont have friends anymore) family, neighbours etc. My whole life is worry, anxiety, severe panic attacks and thoughts that never stop, rarely let me sleep normally. But I didn't start typing this to dump all my things on you, my brain just don't stop so this just flowed out, I wrote this because when I connect with someone who understands these feelings I so desperately want to connect and say HEY I GET YOU! I AM HERE FOR YOU! YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Because I would want someone to do that for me too! Stay strong in this moment. I appreciate your channel, your openness and your strength.

I understand this all too well. What makes it even worse is these "doctors" just try to push certain medications on you because they have some kind of deal to prescribe it, too many in that field don't seem to actually care and then my family wonders why I don't even care to seek treatment. I don't have what it takes to make all these phone calls, go through all of these first time meets OVER AND OVER again and again but my family thinks that since I am an adult that these things should just be easy for me, that if I want the help then I would just do these things. They THINK they understand but they have no idea. They can't know what it is like to be trapped inside of this head unless they've dealt with it personally. I'm also just so fucking sick of hearing the words "because you aren't on your meds" too, as if my feelings are being invalidated because I have mental illnesses. Any time you feel something that a normal doesn't agree with, it's because "you're mentally ill" and your feelings are "just the illness talking" and then they wonder why you don't let anyone in.

Hello Mr. Daniel, I will try and choose my words carefully here. All my intentions are good when I say this. Growing up my mother had paranoid schizophrenia, and I never understood it or her. It definitely didn't help when other people would tell me that she was crazy, it really deteriorated my relationship with her where to the point I would try and ghost her. Unfortunately when I was 16 she passed. Later on I'm starting to have psychosis myself... and now I finally can understand some of what she went through. It sucks because after I understand it she is already gone from this world. I would love for the chance to tell her that I understand her finally, it's my biggest regret that I live with. When I saw your videos on Special Books by Special Kids, it gave me a huge sense of relief.... I miss my mom a lot and seeing your story really helped with my stress of my psychosis and my regret that was eating away at me. I now found your channel and I will be watching regularly as you post. Don't ever give up Mr. Daniel, I want to fight this mental illness alongside you. Thank you Mr. Daniel!

Daniel, I have gone through the majority of your media at this point from your community posts, poetry, videos and montages. Hearing what you are saying and sharing your experiences here means a lot. Hi Daniel. I saw your most recent vid on SBSK as well as seeing the first one from before. When watching the most recent vid, when you described feeling like a waste of space, I broke down immediately. I wasn't expecting it but I do have a long history of depression and other mental health issues. I'm also on the Autism spectrum. I haven't had a job since last year. I went from a perfect A student, Boy Scout, saxophone player to a 29 year old man that still lives at home with his parents. I live in a small town in Louisiana with no job prospects that aren't retail or fast food. I don't qualify for housing and the apartments are too expensive for any basic job to cover rent for.
Anyway, just wanted to say, we're all with you and will support you.
This is the first video of yours i watched. You are a good person. You are human. You deserve the same dignity and respect as any other. I will be praying for you buddy

Dan, I feel you. I relate to you say in a beyond personal level. I’m only 16 and have been force committed multiple times. It’s hard, it’s super super hard. I feel like watching your videos helps me so much cope with what I’m feeling and you also help me realize I’m not alone. Even though it’s hard to believe I’m worth someone’s time. I feel like having a relationship with you would be so cool, your such an amazing, intelligent, and influential individual. I'm so glad you're back!! I've been forced hospitalized (called the Baker Act here in FL) too. It's never easy! I'm SO happy to hear you are okay. I absolutely agree that the system is broken!! That in itself can be hazardous to mental health. Have you considered starting a Go Fund Me? I think a lot of us would really like to help you. Stay strong Daniel!!
