I LOVE to watch you and your daddy compete in the gym, in the pub, although I as an American, I am totally confused about the rules surrounding American pool. We don't call out that we want stripes or solids before the game starts. You flip a coin to see who goes first and when you break the balls if a striped ball goes in, you're playing the striped balls. If you sink a solid and a stripe during the break, whichever ball sinks first is your color for the rest of the game and if you're playing someone who's a bloody pool shark, you may never get to even chalk your cue. www.rulesofsport.com/sports/pool.html
