When I was little, we had to drag our decomposing cow, Oreo, out from under the shed and out into an open field where the vultures could peck her body. She died from being underfed. It really disturbed me when I was younger. I think about it often. Thank you, Adrienne.
“The horse lies naked in the shed, the flies draw sugar from his head” I know that’s not the full lyric but I can’t make out the rest and that just felt so perfect for this comment. I can’t imagine having a memory like that, so disturbing and surreal. I hope your not too disturbed.
the fact that I found this song 2 whole years after its release is the reason why you never say "music is dying." there's always beautiful stuff out there waiting to be found.

Adrianne lenkers music can either be interpreted as a cloudy but warm day in the summer just before a rainstorm, or a sunny day laying in a field of grass and feeling the warmth on your skin
@_.paranoid hello! Ingydar was the name of the singer's great aunt's horse. I'm not entirely sure if the name has a meaning but that's all i know about Ingydar :]
this song has inspired my writing so much, i legit created an ingydar tag on AO3. The lyrics in this song are so beautiful, all prose should aspire to this level.
I really loved 'Songs & Instrumentals' when it came out but generally skipped over this song until 2 weeks ago, when stray dogs killed our neighborhood cat Budzgi who was semi-feral but lived at our porch for 3 years and was affectionate towards us. Seeing his mauled body was quite traumatizing, as well as arranging burial for a creature that was alive and well hours ago but I kept composure. For some reason, the next day I put on the album and when this song came up, I listened to the lyrics and completely broke down into tears - which is part of the healing, I guess. This is a perfect album from start to finish - poetic, mystical and melancholic
Fragilely, gradually and surrounding The horse lies naked in the shed Evergreen anodyne decompounding Flies draw sugar from his head His eyes are blueberries, video screens Minneapolis schemes and the dried flowers From books half-read The juice of dark cherries cover his chin The dog walks in and the crow lies in his jaw like lead Everything eats and is eaten, time is fed Early еvening, the pink ring swallows The sphеrical marigold terrain Sleepily, Venus sinks and hollows The stationed headlight of a plane You are as far from me as memory With fixtures fracture varyingly The juice of dark cherries cover my skin Six years in, no baby Everything eats and is eaten Ingydar bares a scar like a meteor Crystalline amber guilds her cheek Tambourine of the beech leaves lead her To the raven playing hide and seek Drying blueberries, figurines and the angel leans At the head of the bed The juice of dark cherries cover my chin The dog walks in and the crow lies in his smile like lead Everything eats and is eaten, time is fed Everything eats and is eaten Everything eats and is eaten Everything eats and is eaten Everything eats and is eaten Everything eats and is eaten
I remember listening to this song constantly last fall. My agoraphobia was really bad then, and I listened to this when I was anxious to calm me down. Thank you. You cannot fathom how much comfort this song has brought me as well as many other people.
The lyrics are sung just as beautifully as they’re written, it’s truly a peacefully, sadly and uniquely beautiful song, with the guitar to top it all of, it gives a feeling nothing else could describe.
I don't know why, but this song makes me think of going to the mountains as a kid. I used to walk up the dirt road to the barn to see the cow and the chickens that belonged to the people who rented the barn from my grandma. I learned to milk a cow then. I'll never go there again. I miss it.
"his eyes are blueberries, video screens, minneapolis schemes and the dried flowers from books half-read the juice of dark cherries cover his chin the dog walks in and the crow lies in his jaw like lead"
This song reminds me of my kitty Elis who passed away just a few months ago. She was hit by a motorcycle. Every time I imagine her I feel like crying. The way my mother described her laying there on the middle of the street... It must have been so painful. I'm so sorry my baby, I still wish I could have held you for one last time
The line "everything eats, and is esten" oddly enough makes me think of a line from a completely different song. "Hungry makes us human", it doesn't make much sense, but it makes me think of it and it has a meaning I can't quite grasp yet. Also, if you've ever watched the Silent Voice, this song reminds me of Shoko's sister. The way she would take pictures of carcasses or dead insects to drive her sister away from death, it reminds me of this. Again that's only through vague association, but still. This song is beautiful :)
Can't believe melon head listed my fave song as the least favorite, JAAIIILLLL!!! last year or maybe the year before, i had a pet mouse named athena, but we liked to call her tina. tina was the best girl, she loved to be held and pet and she loved strawberries. i don't know what happened but one day she got sick, she got an awful rash on her back that she couldn't stop scratching, i felt so awful whenever i looked at her. days after it appeared, we found her lying down, barely able to breathe. she tried so hard to stay, she fought so hard, until i held her. as i held her, her breathing slowed till it stopped. she died in my hands. she felt safe enough to die in my hands. i think about her every single day, and i cry, till there's no more tears i can cry. you were the best girl athena and i'm grateful to have been your person
This is so beautiful ❤ your music bleeds into my heart so gently, it’s so painful yet comforting As an aspiring poet, you inspire me so much Thank you for everything!
My favorite track from this album keeps changing with each listen, but I keep coming back to this one. Does anyone know what 'Minneapolis schemes' means?
A 'housing scheme' would be an area developed with homes by a company, so I understand it as his (and her) eyes reflecting the years of life spent wandering the streets and lanes of whatever was once home. That's just my take though.

Pianos and guitars are more connected than people may think
