Thank you very much! This speed variation technique works for me. Also I have a better understanding what the famous "muscle memory" is and how it is developed. Cool! :)

That was one of the first tips I got when I first started learning too, from Emylee Ratzlaff, about building muscle memory. A very important piece of advice.
I also believe in the learning speeds. Whenever learning a new move its best to "step it through" or walk it through a few times. Just so you get familiar with it and your brain learns where your feet need to be placed and whether you need to be stepping onto your heel or toe. Then you slowly pick up speed, muscle strength, muscle memory, agility, flexibility and before you know it you're powering through your moves.

Very good tips! I'd like you to make a video about how to dance to music - taking into consoderation not only the beat but other things such as the melody, lyrics and so on.

Excellent tips! Thanks!Quick question. My knees are starting to kill me and only be shuffling 5 months. Especially learning bre spins. Trying to be lighter on my feet. I’m also waaaay older than you. Just wondering if you ever had knee pain.
Yes more videos like this! Your learning moves at 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, full speed was a great tip.

Remember to warm up, stretch etc before starting your shuffle sessions.
Make sure you wear well cushioned shoes with good ankle and front (toe) support and provide a good bounce. You may have to try a few types of shoes before you find which one(s) work best for you.
If you are getting knee or ankle or any other joint pains, take it easy for a while then slowly pick up the pace again.
I'm much older too. I had ankle pains when I first started as my ankles weren't used to these moves and I was trying to shuffle on a hard surface without adequate shoes. Over time my ankles have gotten stronger, knees are doing okay too, and my shuffling has improved greatly.

I get each of the steps but I need subtasks for them :'D
How did you spend 30min a day learning? Pros often suggest to learn the running man first, but I don't seem to have the stamina to do the running man for 30mins ... Or is that the goal? And then you learn move by move, spending at least 30mins a day just grinding down on the movement, even if it's the running man - for example - for several days in a row?
If that IS the case, how the frick do you not get bored and quit? xD
I wish that that thing from the Matrix existed so we could just plug a thing into the nape of our neck and know how to shuffle xD

Harrison, this is so insightful. Have been following your tutorials for a while. I’m writing a book about Cutting Shapes and would like to feature you and this tutorial within it. Would you be up for that? It’d be paid job...
