Winescapes with Artists (Episode 7): Michael Kenna

This week in Winescapes with Artists, Deborah chats with Michael Kenna, an artist who focuses on the interaction between natural landscape and human-made structures. Michael captures many of his shots at night through long exposures and with non-digital silver photographic medium.
In this Winescape, Deborah and Michael discuss two works - Catholic Confessionals and Buddhas - both of which explore the cultural and ritualistic sense of religion. Michael enjoys exploring stories that unfold over time, as well as the remains after that moment has passed.
Together, they will discuss the realities that are and aren’t documented in traditions, and photography’s role in capturing them. Michael will share his process for hand crafting black and white prints in his darkroom, as well as the 450 exhibitions he’s been part of internationally.
