I have been on steam trains in China... even in the 1980's they were terrific and quite fast
Thank you for your comment.
Absolutely stinging every way! Fabulous work. Thank you. :-)
Thank you too. :-)
I can just imagine if this was driven on some the the NSW Australia railways that how many fires could start!!
Great video, thanks for posting this. I hadn't a clue!!!
great video steam forever and in the afterlife indeed
You can really hear the pounding exhaust. Just like the 50's in the USA. Getting up that mountain I am surprised they don't have water stops.
Thanks for the comment.
It’s only a 3-mile run. Those engines can run about 15 miles without stopping for coal and about 12 miles without stopping for water.

Nebylo tam potřeba nějaké povolení k natáčení? Přece jen v takové zemi bych měl obavu někde jít točit vlaky se stativem a navíc ještě v dolech...
Ano, byl to placený zájezd včetně všech povolení.
What kind of age are the locomotives? I presume that they are relatively recently built?
The answer is in the video description. ;) "Steam locomotives JS"

Increible, buen trabajo y buena caza. La tracción vapor, la esencia pura del ferrocarril.
Gracias.
Gratuluję, przepiękny film!

A lot of these locos are working right at the limit of their traction. The whole landscape looks post apocalyptic.

Hi, I'd like to go there and check it out - do you have contact details of any hotels to stay at there? Can't find anything..
You should look it up on Google Maps, NW China is basically a high steppe plain, not very touristy. I doubt there's many hotels near these mines.
Awesome video enjoyed it.
Thank you.
Any steam left in China? I understand the Sandaoling steam operations are now over? Were the locomotives saved?
I do not know. Maybe someone else can answer that.
@ I'm afraid it's finally gone, but thanks for the reply. I was told sometime in 2020 no more steam.
A grand total of 28 JS class 2-8-2 locomotives preserved in various places.

There are no spark sieve in the smokestack.
