I'm so glad I was able to find a furnished apartment here in Switzerland - it made the move so easy.
A hint: for free furniture: keep your eyes open for furniture, exercise equipment (!) and even LEGO and books on the sidewalk with a sign that says "Gratis". It's great - I got multiple good pieces such as an office chair like that.
What's funny is that I have a van and I always see cool stuff in the morning that I want to pick up, but I'm always running late and by the time I'm on the way home, the stuff is always gone. Oh well!

Yes, you definitely managed to avoid a big part of the hassle!👍🙂
That's a great tip, thank you! I've seen a few things put out to give away on the street, but didn't realise it happens so often!

Hi, before the eco place where you bring the old things, every first Thursday of the months (Ticino) the council use to collect the old big stuff that you don't use anymore and trough it, you could find, the night before on the road, bed chair dishes once a PC 😂 now you can find old things in Caritas or other organizations or on the recycling place, tutti.ch it's like anibis👍👍👍👋👋

@@pippopapero5373 That's great to know!😁👍 Reminded me of what I heard about Norway, where in recycling stations you can find laptops in perfect condition and still with all the personal information on them😂

I think Switzerland is great for second-hand stuff as there are so many people moving out of the country after short period of time. Many of them just want to get rid of the furniture as it actually cost less to give furniture away for free than to recycle it.
Also, I found some really cool second-hand stuff on English Forum Switzerland. Though, not sure if it is still a thing.

Do you have to pay to recycle furniture here?
      That's a great tip, thank you!☺️👍 I just checked and it's very much still a thing 😅www.englishforum.ch/

Hi Erika, are there any car sharing options in Switzerland? some countries have a communal or regional service offering cars on an hourly rent at very affordable prices, so one can use it for temporary activities such as collecting a second hand item

I only heard of a company called Mobility, we haven't used it yet though. www.mobility.ch/en/private-customers From what I understand, you have to pay monthly subscription and also pay for the car when you rent it.
We always end up just renting from Europcar, since we don't need a car that often, so don't want to keep paying the subscription that we don't use.

Your comment under the other video got deleted by RUclips, so I'll answer it here. You said 'Hi Erika, which apps or websites are most commonly used to sell/buy second hand stuff in Switzerland?'
Best places are Facebook Marketplace, Anibis.ch and Ricardo.ch . There are also charity shops here that can hide some real gems.

@@Saxyct Sometimes it has overly sensitive spam filter, which is super annoying, but I can't do anything about it unfortunately.. :(

Clearly the shoe rack is the most valuable item in the whole flat...
