- Hello :) This is the requested transcription I've done of the Cake version of the Gloria Gaynor song "I Will Survive'" that Victor Damiani played bass on.

This is one of those songs where if I was playing it live, I wouldn't worry about every little note. The variations I've put in are just because that's what I heard when transcribing it. The thing I would concentrate on is "thinking like a drummer" - be consistent and steady with the rhythm while playing dynamically and maintaining a certain level of intensity.

yeah!!! i was listening to fashion nugget today, and i never realized how SICK the bass was in the song! even though i don’t think cake’s version of I Will Survive touches Gloria, i have always loved how Cake does it. thanks so much for this video i can’t wait to play along!

thank you for the tabs. I've been taking a break from performing with my band since 2019 and I've only playing acoustic guitars in my own room since then. I've started to forgot how to play the bass of this song so this really helps me alot.

Hi Drew! Thanks man....haha, that's exactly what I did. I removed the pick guard and filled the holes with wood filler. I think got the idea from Jaco ;)

Very Cool, Greg! I like seeing standard notation, which I'm trying to get better at, along with tab which helps me for those times when the part goes above the 12th fret! Just a comment on the Cake version. I think the original used C maj7 rather than C7 that Cake played, but that is a mistake you won't make more than once if you are playing the original version with a bunch of horn players!

Hi Maus, thanks for the comment. I like the way you're holding the notes for the full count (half notes) and coming off when the snare hits. Space is just as important as the notes and you see to understand this...good job! Keep it up :)
