    I can always remember saying good bye to my aunt at Newport station in south wales. As the HST accelerated away and the click, clump of the carriages and then the rear power car, screaming as it whizzed passed us on the platform, then to deaccelerate, only for the driver to give it the beans again, was awesome when you're a 8 year old boy.

    Great video 🤔 XC HST’s are still passed to run at 125mph between Colton Junction and York and between York and Darlington. When Cross-Country used to pool all Western Region power cars in the mid to late 1980’s, 43025 along with any other WR allocated power car could often turn up on Cross-Country services between the South West/South Wales, the Midlands and the North East/North West as well as its Western Region duties 🙂🇬🇧 I’ve travelled in the mid 1980’s on 43010, 43011 (now gone 😥) 43016, 43017, 43020, 43021, 43034 and 43037 of the original batch all on Cross-Country workings 😎👍🏽

    These were a daily staple on my commute from Bath to Bristol (and Weston-Super-Mare on some occasions). Remember watching these scream by at full power as a child in Sydney Gardens in Bath. When FGW re-furbished these with the MTU power unit, I can't help thinking this is harking back to the days of the Maybach powered Westerns that plied these routes before the HSTs took over! Good Luck with this one, it will be lovely to see this one back to her best! You can still ride a HST here in the West Country down in Devon, as GWR created the 6-Car set "Castle" class, but you need to be quick as even these are being retired over the next 18 months.

      @@TrainRealWorld Network Rail don't control airspace but require permission for large or commercial drone flights. The CAA, who do control airspace, say that, for sub 250 gm drones, you can fly over;
      Commercial sites including:
      shopping centres
      warehouses
      business parks
      Industrial sites including:
      factories
      docks
      rail and transport hubs (but not airports or other flight hubs)
      It's unfortunate that many people, including the police, do not know the rules and think they can stop flights over "their property" - unfortunately they do not own or control the airspace.

    Very interesting video. I live in Nottingham, so seeing 43025 being taken along roads I use every day was great! Just a correction, where you were talking about the right turn at 35min 22seconds, that route is the only way to go from the A453 towards Ruddington. If they had taken the slip road towards QMC, they would have been going in exactly the opposite direction! You needed to take the A52 towards Grantham to get to the A60 into Ruddington.
    I look foward to visiting the Ruddington location and seeing 43025 once it's been cleaned and prepared for running!
    Thanks for a great video.

      I think I was mentioning that because of the weight of the load, there were certain places it could and couldn't go to, and one was that it couldn't go on the slip road there up to QMC and couldn't go on the QMC roundabout either. It was a very tight turn to get on there though, but fun to watch. Hopefully they will start her soon, and fingers crossed I will be there too.

But I also remember the large bowsers of coolant located at principal stations. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the leaking head casket problem was traced to drivers swiping the controller between off and notch five.
