We have a new Mayor since this has occurred! They NEVER come to the people in the neighborhood's. Always talking to the Dr and she doesn't even live in Flint! And yes I live here been here over 10 generations!
I know people who are from Flint so this isn’t a surprise but what they aren’t telling you is that Flint doesn’t give out water anymore. The people that I know who live there says they have to purchase bottled water to take a bath in. With the limits put on water purchases due to covid-19 they have to choose between being clean and drinking. This isn’t an easy fix for the people living in this situation...they can’t sell their homes and just move. Who will buy their properties? And the water bills are ridiculously expensive for water they can’t use. If they don’t pay the bill then the city condemns their homes and put them out on the streets.
I live here and because of COVID19 they've begun to give water back out. I'm a 53yr old mother of two but I STILL purchase my families own water and 4 of my neighbors!

am i missing something? what is everybody waiting for? what is going to change? who is going to save them? and why are they so concerned with worthless property? i wuldve moved way back when this first happened. especially if its affecting my child.... help me understand🤷🏽♀️

traffic jam it doesn’t work like that for most Americans. No one can move anywhere without money or credit. What you are missing is what it’s really like for the unprivileged citizens who live in this country. Just like there’s no safety net for the residents of Flint for something their government caused there’s no safety net for them to leave and start over.

@ O A L, I live in Flint, too. I am lucky in that I own my home outright, but it's not worth anything if I wanted to sell it. Apparently, you've never lived paycheck to paycheck. Housing in the areas around Flint is quite high. Car and homeowners insurance is very expensive in Flint, so many don't have any. We pay $60 a month in service fees just to have the privilege of having water, let alone the cost of your usage. The damage to her son is not reversible. For 2 years we were lied to and we drank the water. Now, we don't consume it so we buy bottled. Even though our lines were changed the water still smells like chlorine or rotten eggs. Flint has been in crisis for decades. These women are trying to make a difference.

Democrats have been running Michigan , Detroit and Flint into the ground for years. Let 's talk plainly when we talk about these issues if we want to get a resolution. I moved to Michigan in 2016. My ex is from here. Anyway, there are many places here with water problems. But 60% of Flint is black. So why don 't black people do this. Stop thinking Democrats are going to help you or care about you all the time. Because it is not working. At lease make them do something. They come and get the votes. You vote for them. They leave you hanging. Stop the madness!!! Black people are so busy blaming Republicans and pumping up Democrats. Democrats say ok.... All they want is a Non Republican and some handouts. We got you! Our Governor is too busy running for Vice President and being everyone bodies Mama telling us to stay home. To actually help Flint. She is a Democrat!
