- We’re putting out our annual 60 taps into our forest for the syrup season! We tap all red maple trees and annually make around 7-10 gallons of pure Michigan maple syrup each year.

Nice to see someone who sticks to the old ways to do things. Keep up the Good work bro!!!!!
I've also watched tappers that will put a lot of taps in one tree if the tree is at the end of its life
Interesting, I didn’t k ow or think of that. For us, our forest is fairly young so that wouldn’t apply. Definitely interesting though, thanks for sharing.
I figured there'd be snow on the ground. unusual?
I lived in maine. It snowed in late oct and we didnt see the ground until april.
Yeah, this is unusual to start maple season without snow. Most years there’s 8” or so on the ground.
I need some syrup this year if you have extra
How long do you expect the run to go on for? I tapped for the first time. Usually the grands tap trees but work schedules interfere. Im in Clare County Michigan and hope to cook down alot of sap into syrup 😋 last years run went on forever.
Our runs are usually 4-6 weeks. How many taps are you running?
@LivingOurAmericanDream 25 total taps. My grandson used to run 40 or 50, but I can't go out into the woods like he did. I stay closer to the house.
