On March 16, 2018, back-to-back World Poker Tour Champion and high stakes cash game player Art Papazyan had a record setting day on Live At The Bike! In this hand Art used his massive stack to put huge pressure on the other big stack at the table, high stakes crusher Garrett Adelstein. A week later Art and Garrett sat down to talk about this memorable hand.

Holy shit guys your videos went from "film school" to straight professional in under a year pretty much. Kudos to the editor who has learned fast!
yar
You mean kudos to the guy who sacked the first editor
I’ve already apologized to Art (who I consider a friend) for the "you got it" + pump fake chip toss a few seconds before mucking my cards. Although I was too tilted for any sort of rational thought by this point in the session and have never done anything like that in a poker hand in my life prior, there's no excuse that makes it okay. That combined with my aggressive whining in this hand, it’s just a bad look. I expect better of myself as someone who works hard to try to make the poker table a fun, parasite-free environment for all. For the keyboard warriors who are still deeply offended, Art texted me saying: “I don’t believe for one second you were intentionally trying to angle me.”
Garrett Adelstein you sir are a class act, I've watched you play plenty and this is definitely the first time I have seen you do anything even potentially untoward. To take the time to be so publicly self-critical here only speaks to your character. I tip my e-hat.
Very humble response. U are one of my favorite players to watch. Props from Florida.😁
Respect for following it up in the comments and yeah it's funny you can tell you snapped out of it really quick. I think seeing someone bet a new car's worth of money on a bluff would make anyone lose their minds trying to figure it out.
Good stuff, Garrett. You are a beast and fun to watch. Great for the game. Keep it up.
I think Art views you as a customer so his reply doesn't mean much. That said, while it was definitely a slimy angle, I don't believe you would consciously make the decision to do that on LATB. Especially in a big pot that you know lots of people will see
I just love G mans attitude, he gives credit where credit is due.
Tim Carr that's what I was thinking. You can tell there's no personal animosity at all which is great. That's how poker should be.
it's why he's quickly become one of my favorite players. he's great for the game, all around. personality towards the game and the players, action, thought process.. dynamo.
hi garret!
Yeah for sure agree, he is super entertaining to watch without the nastiness of the likes of Helmuth and Tony G for example (don't get me wrong Iove a bit of Tony G but he can be a massive dick)
I wish I was more like him
Art just became my favorite LATB player not only for that epic bluff, buy for trying to do it against a maniac like Garrett
Nobody, NOBODY can dislike this video ! Great hand, great analysis and great sportsmanship
A year almost, and I still come back to watch this great hand... Their thoughts a week after are priceless... Garrett especially , yet again on a class of his own.
“Idk why I’m taking so long, it doesn’t even matter...”😂
One of the best poker videos I’ve watched in terms of the editing, the play itself, the explanations by the players - even the title didn’t give anything away! It reminds me of the infamous video where Dwan explains his bluff against Greenstein’s AA. Keep up the great work!
2 points im taking from this video:
1: be careful going for thin value against good players, they will punish you!
2: Art just made Garrett talk to himself for over a minute.
This day was a successful day.
All faith restored in art as an extremely solid player, thats some career defining shit right there, nh nh
He's not a maniac
Great format of displaying a hand!
Dam my heart was pounding watching this hand lol sickk
Jacob Martinez same
So sick
Having the player analyze the hand is pretty smart, it adds really nice content to the videos beyond the standard commentary which isn't always correct so hearing it from the player is always a great addition, great job Ryan!
Adding the player commentary is a definite upgrade to these clips!!
Poker is such a funny game. At 5/5 nobody would ever bet KK on river here and nobody would ever raise without Qx plus.
RNAUGH100 really? I thought 5/5 and 5/10 players were world class and top notch.
But then they would at 1/2 for sure.
I wanna come abuse those games
@@JohnSmith-cz3us not anymore - poker exploded since the plandemic
6:10 Garrett coming down on himself, too funny :-)
I LOVE the player commentary -- nice production, guys! Not only do Garrett and Art show again how great they are at poker, but it also seems like they are great people as well.
Class attitude by G man. Smile, nice hand. Most people wouldn't be that chill about it.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE HAND OF ALL TIME FROM THE BIKE CASINO!!!! INCREDIBLE PLAY BY ART...............
Garret tried to go for the ‘you got it’ angle to get a reaction but Art didn’t fall for it. Good job
inst that considered bad ediqeutte? to say u got it and fake folding?
That's a helluv of an angle. A less experienced player than Art might turn over their hand or fold.
Yeah, that was a little sleazy
It's really common in live poker. I'd say objectively yes, it's bad etiquette but so are a lot of things at a poker table. It won't get you kicked out of a home game normally but will probably ruffle someone's feathers if they fall for it.
If Art did go to muck his cards and Garrett got the pot somehow, the uproar wouldve been huge and Garrett wouldve been banned
LATB stepping their game up lately. I’m almost impressed!
G man is awesome. Favorite to watch. Cheers to Art, great spot. Sizing and check call definitely contributed to Garrett’s confusion.
This bluff was just pure art ;)
What makes this hand so unique is that in order for this play to work you have to have a player like Garrett that is capable of making the thinnest of value bets on the river ! And also both players holdings ended up being so specific. Garrett value betting AA or KK and Arts Bluffs AK or AJs. And I agree with the commentator Art would never do this with 10s full. Art has to have AQ,QQ, or 88 or bluffing with only 1 or 2 hands ? Yeah ? No ?
daftsynth as he will get shoved on by a queen and garret rarely has an 8 here so. what can he get value from if garret folds kings he will folds aces as they are much the same apart from some removal effects
Check raising 10s full as a bluff? Don't make no sense just call because they could be good. Art knows Ace high is no good tho.
I agree on the 10's full value hand but I think you can add to his bluffs as played JJ for sure and 99 sometimes blocking good value hands
Amazing hand between two guys who clearly respect the hell out of each other.
Garret is one of my fav player at LATB. Another player added today in my list. What a play by ART. 🙏🙏🙏
Hahahahaha Nick sounded like he was going to pass out... "Oh my God... OH MY GOD."
the old Garrett Adelstein would call quick lmao
Truong Vlogz03 I think he was super in the hole that week, maybe that played into it
true i would not put Art on a Q tho, i think Aces! because it was 6k pre flop, i doubt he call 6k with AQ? i dont know maybe who knows lol
Truong Vlogz03 They have 150k in front dude. Has all of the QX here
Truong Vlogz03 AQs, QQ, TT is very likely in a 4bet pot this deep. So few bluffs here.
He's never in a million years c/r river here with AA. What would be the point of that?
props to art on this hand. that was just magnificent. that bluff was ruthless and just sick. but you can tell arts eyes were about to tear up rom the stress of waiting out garretts decision. maybe if garrett held out just a little longer, art would have blinked his eyes.
this bluff is up there with dwan vs ivey. maybe even better than cuz garrett had the overgoods on this hand.
I love G-man, he is no hater! Great attitude!
LATB should get more player commentary and analysis after games like this one
please do more of these videos with the players talking about their thought process behind the hand!!
10:18 The Great Garreth angle shooting?
"What does he want me to fold?" HAHAHAHA I fucking love Garrett
I’m glad the commentators have stopped talking as much recently. I remember this era of LATB commentary.
Sick hand.
Videos are very well done these days and no more spoilers in the titles. Nice job
Dam if I’m in GA situation I would fold also just by the pre flop raised re raised all the way to the check raised on the river by AP. That is one of the best bluff by AP.👏🏻👍🏻
I wish LATB would do more of these post game analysis. These are pretty cool.
Wow props to art
What a play
The show should be called Garrett at the Bike cuz all it is is clips of him. Love G-Man he is a maniac
Good video!!! It is enjoyable for both people in the hand to talk about it!
Playing poker for a living has to be stressful
great hand, this 2 are beasts, gman and pure art
Tom dwan will call or maybe even raise all in . This is a defining moment between good and great player.
lmao Dwan will reship it
Yeah, it's kind of an all in or fold situation on the river
Garret's final summary of this hand indicates why he's a winning player.
Props to Art. Dude deserves his move up in stakes. Absolute grinder
Also, props to Garrett. That's probably the right call, unless you think Art is bluffing a lot more. Both very solid grinders in LA
This is some anime arc, where this is the moment he just changed into a better poker player
Favorite poker video of the year. Great play and a great video!!
Wow, great poker and great sportsmanship. Give it up for both of these guys.
Anyone notice Gary sitting next to Art and see the light bulb go off over his head LOL
I think it's a bit wrong for the commentator to talk about how 'this is what separates the low level players from the big boys comment' at the 3:50 mark when talking about betting for thin value on the river in this spot. Given pre flop action, what hands are calling Garrett's bet on this river? Most good players will turn air into bluffs here and he'll be crushed the rest of the time. The only way a bet on this river makes sense is if you are prepared to snap off any river shove expecting there to be more bluffs than value in his opponent's range. Art nailed it when he said he expects Garrett to go for thin value a lot of the time, and that's why his play make sense while Garrett's river bet just doesn't.A river fold by Garrett just means he didn't think out the hand well enough and didn't think one step ahead about what his river bet represented the way Art did.
Must say that was a pretty amazing bluff, especially against one of the biggest calling stations out there!
Don't really blame Garrett for folding or calling, personally I thought he would call... despite the perception of Art "can't be bluffing" in this situation, it's also such a small range for Garrett just to put Art on a Q... especially with the preflop action. These guys are obviously pros, so maybe my thinking is not correct... but Garrett raise, Art 3-bets, Garrett 4-bets, and Art calls that... I mean he range is really just QJ suited, QK suited, AK, AQ, 10s, 8s... might be a little wider because Art won heaps that day. But realistically would rule out AA and QQ as would think Art would put more than $9k pre-flop and 5-bet with those hands. Out of position, Art would check nearly every hand to pre-flop aggressor... so that makes sense... but since Garrett checked the flop behind, on the turn, I think Art would bet his single Q alot of the time... his AA as well... Art being out of position having a Q and risking a Garrett check back on the river? I mean that's next level shit hoping he would bet... I think looking at the action, Garrett should be leaning towards a call... I mean it was a very thin-value raise which created this situation. But personally from the action, unlike Garrett's views, I don't see Art having a Q here. Garrett probably out thought the situation, most of the time with poker players, their initial instinct is their most likely final decision, as soon as the re-raise came Garrett put Art on a Q, but he should've thought over the betting situations more rather than focusing on Art having a Q.
yeah totally agree he definitely doesn't have 19 Queens when the action goes as it did. That being said, it's so hard to find bluffs for Art here. Like how often is he really turning AK into a bluff?(which Garret blocks) Garret has to be right roughly 1 in 4 times for it to be a profitable call so lets say Art has the one combo of KQ suited(1), JQ suited (2) AQ (8) and 10Q suited (1), QQ (1) oh and lets give him 1 10s full cause why not. So Garret needs to find (1+2+8+1+2)/4 bluffs or more for it to be a profitable call so 3.5 bluffs. Now what hands get there that aren't good? AK.. maaaaybe he could turn a hand like jacks into a bluff, but given the lack of blockers i dont think he is. Is Art really taking almost half of his AK in this line?? Maybe, I would think probably not if I was Garret especially since Art hasn't been playing high stakes for a crazy long time so maybe Garret thinks its harder for him to raise 51K with no equity. I can get behind the fold, I could also maybe get behind the call given how passive Art's line was. Super sick hand regardless!
Art stood like a stone
G man is a total boss and awesome ebassador for the game
Really enjoyed this presentation. Well done.
Все супер, спасибо за видео!
Art is No Joke. 1 of the best
Watching this bluff made me perspire
My fav Gman blender moment. Dunno what the solver says but prolly a fold 70% of the time, so good decision even if it was the wrong decision. I've noticed that Gman usually makes the wrong read when he gets emotional and starts having an existential crisis, so it's a good lesson for us all to avoid emotions and calmly replay the hand and calculate the odds of a bluff.
Art is right in that the fold is usually the right play. Once in a while you look like a hero but you'll look like a fool ten times for every time you hit.
Garrett is the man. And of course Art is a beast.
This was just awesome on so many levels.
How to get the mindset and attitude of garrett?
Garrett is a humble dude
How are folding or 5 betting the best 2 options?
lol did art give garret his hoodie after this hand
Great play. People don't bluff the river enough, so this gets through at a higher percentage than it should.
It's crazy, Garrett even puts Art on AK
You got to think on a double Ace board that your Over-pair (pocket Kings) is good
As far as retrospective
Garrett is a real class act.
Garrett Adelstein is no longer ONLY the best player in LA......He's top 25 live players at higher stakes in the world
" nick just did a lap "
Wouldnt a queen raise turn at least some times on such draw heavy board and in a 4bet pot where garret has aa kk and has to continue? is art also going to check river with boat and risk losing value from aa kk? Of course high caliber players r capable of such lines but it still should make garret lean towards call. With brick river all draws in arts turn calling range can be bluffing and with insanely good price why fold?
There’s no draws on that board
As long as neither player uses any revisionist history this is a great way to break down a big hand. Both players come across as telling the truth. Guess even better if neither player knows what the other had before the interview!
How would that be possible when Art showed his hand? And it was obviously Gman had KK or AA, possibly JJ
Obviously I did happen to notice that but lots of big hands and bluffs cards are not shown. So the post hand chat would be even more interesting, especially if players asked to say what they put opponent on, you narrowed it down to 3 hands seeing the cards!
did he just say garrett is the best player in LA? hahahah
Awesome play
And I wouldn't have it in me to try to value bet KK there
Exactly what I think in my head after getting check raised river lol
And I appreciate more of these contents ! Love these the most , players commentating on their actions, and thought process is really educational 😃
Art has 19 fucking queens lol
I would have pooped my pants if I was Art. Kudos to him for having the balls to re-raise like that. Any video with G-man is entertaining, the best poker player in LA for sure
Great video guys!
Wow he took that well!
Wow, great hand. Balls of steal
Not much you can do; sometimes you have to fold and realize you're not going to get it right every time.
19 Queens
Zach Patterson 40*
Good play
G-Man was saying Nice hand, nah that was a Nice Play
Garrett is a master at picking up tells. That was the whole song and dance tank. I've seen him do it before. He's trying to elicit a tell from his opponent, much like Negreanu might. With that as a given, no way in hell should Art have showed the bluff.
I personally think that’s an easy call but again I am watching it.
Angle shoot. Best art only watched the flop the entire time.
The comments here show how images can work so well for some players. Everyone thinks Gman is a total maniac, but he's really not if you pay attention. His best skill is playing up that image
This was a great fold 99% of the time
Sick bluff art knew where he was at. Garrets losing to pocket aces, aq,pocket queens, pocket tens, pocket 8s, garret can only beats jacks or ak.
*BRUTAL*.
Im still waiting for stone cold to appear in the video.
And two cold ones!
Sick sicko sickedy sicko
i agree great show g man can slay u with one finger lol thanks to all
"19 queens" Lmao
This is call. No fold here
I was sure, he was calling.....
Garrett has the 8th best possible hand in this spot so he can only call if he doesn't think Art has one of the 7 hands that beat him... very tough spot
