Whether it's characters or situations, wolf's rain is full of symbolism through and through. That's why I love the series, it's not an ordinary one and certainly not to be watched with fragile heart and shut off mind. It explores the meaning and aspects of life.
When I first watched Wolf's Rain, I was amazed at how it was able to include all these different religious/spiritual concepts and symbols without feeling contrived or derivative. You have the Norse imagery of wolves delivering the end of the world, Hindu/Buddhist concepts of life and death and repeating cycles, and of course, a very Christ-like sacrifice for the redemption of the world.
came from Hakaru's recommendation! Thanks for the insight on what Cheza may represent, when I was watching Wolf's Rain I didn't have idea it could go so deep, more than it naturally does
Sad to see how forgotten with time this show has gotten, I rewatched it last year and loved it even more. And I'm glad to see someone else compare Wolf's Rain with Texhnolyze, they share quite a bit, and I was suprised to realize just how many similarities my two favorite shows have with one another.
Thank you for this video. I always thought the lunar flower was a lotus and had something to do with Buddhism. This made things clear and my appreciation for this beautifully sad show much deeper.
Great video! And I can’t exactly make out what you’re saying in regards to what the flower is based on after trying to understand what you’re saying - but the lunar flower from the show is a tan hua/queen of the night flower! A flower that in a sort of sad symbolic way, only blooms once a year and for a few scant hours at night
so this isnt really a break down of wolf's rain neither an analysis on its motifs and mythos but rather a comparative analises with the study of modern mythology, from hinduism to others. A waste of time for anyne really wanting to see an analysis on wolf's rain however a good video for anyone who is moreinterested in how mythology is re used for anime and more.
