  • Learn what is OSI Model, osi reference model or open system interconnection model or networking model including Application Layer, Presentation Layer, Session Layer, Transport Layer, Network Layer, Data Link Layer and Physical layer. Definition, Function and use of OSI network model. Protocols in computer network layers of OSI model.

The Data Link layer performs two basic functions:
It allows the upper layers to access the media using techniques such as framing.
Controls how data is placed and received from the media using techniques such as media access control and error detection.
Physical Layer converts received binary sequence into signals and transmit over local media. It can be an electrical signal in case of Copper Cable or LAN cable, Light signal in case of Optical Fibre and Radio signal in case of Air as Local Media. #TechTerms

@TechTermsDG Would you please explain the scenario at 2:15 video time? Isn't router a layer 3 , network layer device and how come it encapsulates frame? I thought layer 3 only encapsulates ip packets and encapsulating frame was done in layer 2. Please explain this more clearly. I have been searching for this answer from a long time and I couldn't find the answer.

I have a question, how are packets routed from R1 to R2, do H2 and T2 contain any information about R2? thank you so much

Why does router R1 needs to encapsulate the data packet to a frame again? L3 transmits packets and not frames right? Please help me understand this.
