Shop Tour - A Modular Container Workshop
- A quick tour of my new little workshop which I arranged in the last months.
It is inside of a modular container, those insulated office/job site type ones, 6x3x3m (20x10x10') in dimensions. Still small but plenty of room for my work, and more natural light for videos. About one half is the handtools and filming area, a quarter is the machinery area, my little table saw, planer and bandsaw, and one quarter of deposit and access. Still more things to arrange to make it as I want, but step by step. Future updates, like tool stands, dust collector etc I will be showing some shots in next project videos.

*Hello Adrian!*
*I am very glad that I found your channel on RUclips, but it makes me sad that I have watched all your videos twice, and you do not record new videos, at least very rarely, I would like to see your skills as often as possible.*
*After all, you are truly a master with a capital "M".*
*Continue to please us with your successes, and we will support you!*
*Best regards, Alexander CHEST'ER* 🤝
Thank you very much Alex! I wish I do more videos, but cannot find the formula :))
Happy new year!
Subscribed to your channel, amazing stuff there, congrats!
Adrian
@@AdrianPreda *Thank you very much! I also do not have a formula, but I try to upload a video once a week and this is quite enough, which I advise you too* 😉🙌
You need to give the little worker more biscuits poor lad is still hungry 😋. I've seen some cool projects being completed in this minimalist workshop!!! As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
I'm glad that you finally got a workspace for your own -- you really deserve it! Keep up the good work!
Thank you Marco!
hi Adrian, you turn a container into such a beautiful space! that window is a real bonus too.
pet your coworkers for me
Alberto
Hi Alberto, thanks! Yes, that window was the first thing I considered when building it, when super sunny I almost never used the video lights.
Sure, they like it a lot :))
The jig to hold the hand saw for cutting splines is genius.
Well done, you have a great workshop.
Thank you very much!
I had planned to make my woodshop in two or maybe three containers (I have much larger machinery), but in the end we are building a post frame shop - just not enough space in a container in the end unless you only do small projects. The post frame itself is a very interesting project!
I have a Westie that just loves rolling in sawdust, so funny when it sticks to her fur. Sweet shop!
Phenominal workshop & Phenominal Film. I wish all shop tours were done like this.
Foarte frumos Adrian!
Numai bine!
The new shop is looking great! Thanks for sharing that. Can’t wait to see it all done and the creations you make in it.
Thanks 👍
Love it! I’ve always enjoyed your “talkless” videos, and over the top craftsmanship! Tasteful music on this one also! Happy New Year!
Thanks! Happy New Year!
that is incredible - thank you for the tour!
Very nice! The elegant feel of the "nice side" of the interior makes a great workspace.
That's what I'm talking about!!! Really digging the music too. It's so fun, haha.
Thanks! :)
You are the only youtuber I have enabled the notification bell for, so it's always exciting to see the bell :)
Thank you very much! Sorry it doesn't rings so often :) Working on that!
ooooohhhh, so nice and clean! Loved how everything has a place and everything is in it's place. So neat and tidy! That automatically gets the creativity flowing :) And I can't help but mention the beehives in the background on the last shot ❤.
Love the shop; really love the coworkers. Thank you, Adrian.
Thanks too :)
My sincere congratulations, Adrian! Having your own workshop is great!
Thank you very much!
Its good you have a shop now! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you too!
Great new space you are creating. Thanks for showing and looking forward to future updates.
Thanks also! I will sneak some updates in the future project videos
So envious of your new space! It inspires me to clean up my tiny little garage shop. Hope to see lots of new videos in here :)
Very nice.
Neat and practical.
Love it!
Your small tool kit is the shit! You have inspired me to work on my own.
A great shop for a great master
Exact asta vreau si eu sa fac :) Mi-ai luat-o înainte... Sa-l folosesti sanatos!
Mersi! Spor si tie!
Bravo, felicitări, muzica bună, succes pe viitor.
Multumesc!
Very nice! I appreciate the container ideas! Also your kerfing jig fir the splines is simple but genius!!!!!
Thank you very much!
I really like your workshop
Wow, long time following your channel and it's only getting better and better. Congrats man. Among all my followed channels always expecting to find one of your videos👏🙌
Much appreciated! Thank you!
Awesome workshop! I like it!
Thanks!
That's a lot of puppies!😍
Super !
Your tool wall looks awesome!
I'm glad the most important part of our shops are the same! the coworkers!
Thanks! Yes, it's a little joy, even for them when I come to receive a little treat :)
Very nice woodshop you have there! Enjoy it!
Thanks 👍
Always love your videos, can't wait to see what's next
Thanks so much!
Reeealy nice!
I caught myself imagining being there and sharing a cup of tea or something :)
Hope to see a bunch more videos from you now!
Cheers from Greece!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Nice little shop. Has everything you need. Your LITTLE co-worker really likes that tripod. Better working in the shop then on the porch. hehe
Thanks 👍
Magnific....nu ma asteptam la altceva :)
Makes me think.....:)
Mersi man! Hai baga :)
amazing workshop 😍, the hand tools area is the best
Thanks! I agree! :)
It was nice to see the layout, but more importantly it was good to see you pop back up. I was starting to get a little concerned you were MIA. These days, I don't see someone for a while I get a little uneasy.
Thanks! I was working on setting the shop since this summer, I actually wanted to film some steps to fill this big gap between videos, but will have been crap, was not RUclips worthy.
I'm ok, hope the same to you. The C didn't hit me so far thankfully, hope will continue so.
@@AdrianPreda Thanks for your reply. I didn't know I'd miss anyone on RUclips, but for some reason you were conspicuous by your absence. I've grown quite fond of your videos, apart from the craftsmanship, for their zen-like quality. It's nice to be mesmerized and relaxed at the same time then find new motivation as a bonus.
Awesome shop, well managed space. I’m not sure I could be so organized.
Hey Randy, thanks! Just my shop is this organized, other things no way :))
Very very nice!
Gracias Rafael!
Man your workshop is sooooo clean! Looks amazing. Speaking of that I really need to clean my garage lol
It's at the beginning, will look messy soon :)
Working on the floor like a true japanese :) I've had to work on my living room floor for a while and some of the things really are nice to do while sitting down and using your toes! I just wish the floor was softer..
Haha, yes :) In the meantime I have made some stands for the planer and bandsaw
Excelente felicidades y muchos éxitos. Abrazos y Bendiciones. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Huge fan.
Very nice what you do in such a "low-tech" environment (compared to other on RUclips having access to awesome machinery). I have a planner of the same techno in another trademark, this is doing the job though...
Yes, discovered it a few days ago :)
Felicitari!
Mersi! Acum l-am marit de 3x :)
Very nice workshop.
Thanks 👍
Bravo. Fain clip super atelier.
Mersi!
looking good! :)
Awesome container workspace! Nice use of the space too. Let’s see how long that machinery area stays 1/4
Haha, I hope they do :)
Great Workshop, can't wait to see how it evolves!
Could you please make a video to show us how you dimension your wood / do your stock preparation?
Thanks!
There is video, the first episode of my last desk build, showing that.
@@AdrianPreda I'll make sure to check it out!!
Congrats Bro !!
Thanks !
I like it, but i already miss the "japanese style" of your old "shop". Even if it was very small, the atmospher was really zen and peaceful.
But i guess that you are very happy with more space! Congratulations !
Thanks! Don't worry, there will be :) Now I just did these to make it functional, from now on is the "styling" stage :)
A really nice set-up, the hand tool cabinets look great - even a space for the brushes. I'm guessing the small co-worker is still an apprentice.
Thanks! Yeap, he is carrying the camera tripod :)
Kind of miss the utility bench you used when you had less room. Just a good table but you did upgrade. Ohh it’s outside. Found it. Ha. Wobbly but still useful.
Will you have a trap door for escapes? Someday I'll have a shop of my own too; congratulations.
No, I just jump of the window, it's big enough and low :) Thanks!
It is a livingroom not a workshop. Very nice.
Well I'm not hiding that I thought making a tiny couch too there :)))
Thanks!
Hope you're doing well Adrian. I really miss seeing your videos in my feed.
foarte tare frate
Mersi!
It is a nice and very well-organized shop you have. One thing though, it is kinda uncomfortable to plane wood on the floor.
Felicitari!!
Love the workshop you've got! I hope to get a small workshop in a couple of years in the basement of my apartment building, but a container would be better, I think. Just don't know where to place it. 😒
Thanks! Start from where you can now, and when an opportunity arrives to extend go for it
@@AdrianPreda - Yeah, but my apartment is too small, the only option really is in the kitchen. :/
WAY too clean !! ;-)
Do you have a video just on the miniature tools?
Hi Adrian. Where did you buy the container from?
those dust collections bags do breathe, probably finest dust, if you have the way try to pipe/vent that outside, try to do it. I used 4" PVC pipe.
It is in plan to make a proper filter there, something more dense, will see. Don't know how will work taking the pipe outside, either I will be "vacuumed", or in case I will leave an door/window open the air will be replaced in a couple of seconds. And now in fall/winter my 2-3h time to heat from 6C to 21C will be blown away literally :)
Salut Adrian. Frumos atelier. Din asta trăiești? Sau e doar un hobby.
This is amazing Adrian, congratulations 👏 I was waiting for it. Adrian I wanted to ask you about your jigs, is there a video or something like that to watch and find how to use them.
Thanks
Thank Ricardo! No, nothing for those. But they are general and common jigs, plane shooting board, miter shooting board, and plane thicknessing jig. If you look on youtube there are several videos about them, choose what is the best for you, your work, and tools you have to build it yourself.
Very nice.
How are you getting on with that axminter table saw for fine cuts, and what blade are you using on it?
The reason I ask is I am considering 1500w craft model which has 254mm blade, not sure if that too big of a blade...
Love the lanterns btw 👍
Thanks! It works well, nothing to complain. I only have the 48 and 24T, not the 56T super fine one. And a Klein blade 2.8mm, 48T I remember, but that's to get 3mm kumiko lap joints. When I bought it there was no 254mm version. Probably I would have got that. It's ok even this small, I'm comfortable with it, but you have a bigger selection of 254 blades and the saw itself is a little big I suppose, you have more room for wide/big boards
@@AdrianPreda nice, yeah they look the same but they arent, 254 actually has slightly larger tables too I just checked. The smaller one is out of stock anyway.
Good point on the blade choice. Thanks for your reply and keep up the great work 👍
Thank for the video
Where did find your cyclon for dust collection?
I made it, actually gave it to a sheet metal workshop guys which do HVAC systems, ducting etc and they made it based on my design. The design is from Bill Pentz website, there is a calculator there and tons of info about cyclones
very nice shop! What type of black paint you use for furniture?
Thanks! A generic one I found in hardware store, GoodHome brand.
Just the tool wall is painted black, the back of the columns have thin black HDF. Probably I will put this too on the tool wall, my paint job was silly, many spots there and there
Nice video, great channel. No clamps? Haha
Nice shop, Where did get this riving knife for the ac216ts ?
Thanks! It's the original one. I have grinded it to level to the blade. Was impossible to use the Grrrrrrriper and to make grooves. I plan to make a retractable arm to use the original blade guard/dust port over the blade for safety reasons and also to suck the extra dust there
Measuring: Shinwa ruler
Shinwa rules! :)
5:42 - Hey ! Michael Jackson is still with us !
But seriously : That's the beginning of an intelligently organized and good looking (it's important!) shop you've got there Mr. Preda :-)
Is it located in a kennel ? Are you planning on making a living of woodworking, or just having it as a hobby ?
Thanks, I too find it amusing when I see myself in the video with that glove :)
It is on a steel construction company backyard. Those are my security team, at least the giant one :)
No, it's a living for some time.
What is the size of container? also no mitre saws?
6x3x3m I do have now a miter saw
Amazing! What's the price for a container this size?
Thanks! Around $/€ 200 per square meter
Nice container, curious in what kind of place it is located? Are there many containers in a row? Or is it just on a friendly farmer's land or something?
Thanks! It is on a company's yard, the one who build the container actually :) They are relatives sort of, they do steel constructions, containers etc and I settled there also with my shop. Not to far from home dough, about 15 min drive.
@@AdrianPreda Cool! It's definitely a clever idea. Workshop space can be quite expensive... For now I'll do with my 4m2 garage haha.
How thick is a window frame?
60mm is the wall, sandwich panels
Fantastic space. My current shop appears to be a bit smaller than this. Upgrading soon and certainly looking forward to it. Consider replacing the lower cabinets with drawers. In my opinion, much better for organization.
Thanks! The depth there is only 20cm, I have to make a lot of drawers :)
مبروك congratulation
Thank you!
+Adrian Preda
Hey Adrian, i watch alot of your videos and i was wondering, do you also have a job outside of youtube? if so, what do you do for work?
No, for a couple of year just woodworking. I was an electrical engineer before
@@AdrianPreda Ahh ok, nice! 👍🏼 Keep it up man!
Paint colors?
Where? Cabinets?
@@AdrianPreda yea the cabinets, beautiful color
How big is the container?
6x3x3m
@@AdrianPreda nice use of the space
On the channel, I want to share how I create various things from wood, metal, construction experience and many other things made with my own hands.
I have no special education, no production experience, there is only a desire and desire to improve skills.
I hope my videos will motivate the viewer.🤝
lot of wooden wall coating to do
Yeap :)
Yeah, thats not a proper Adrian Preda workshop, he's missing an indoor plant ... oh wait .. there it is ... :)
:)) Too bad will start freezing in a couple of days and I have to take it back home.
Very nice workspace, well done.
Glad you like it, thanks!
