Ok, have never really cut an avacado before (or even had it actually) but this is GENUINELY helpful. Like, I used to think the st*bbing knife to the pit is risky. I also thought cutting the avacado with it's skin on could easily cut through the skin if the avacado is ripe enough. I may have to cut an avacado one day but I'm sure this video is going to stick with me. I can feel it Edit: Ahh, people in the internet. It was amusing going through the replies. Interesting indeed. I now know it's 'AvOcado', not 'AvAcado'. It's almost as if I've never used the word before as I've never had it. Also, if you were in YT long enough, you would know that YT bans the most random words. Hi I’m fateme,I’m from Afghanistan i make video about Taliban rules and human rights here, and what’s happening here to kids like slavery, child marriage…
I’ve never peeled one in my entire life and I eat them literally all the time lol I just cut it in half, cut slices, and use a spoon to get them out :)
I don't think you will like it. I tried it once, but it's not as good as i thought. Maybe bc it was my first time i tried it. I also tried the juice, but it's just taste weird. Hope you can try it too.
There’s another way to remove the pit/seed is to push it lightly from behind with the avocado peel on and the pit will pop right off. Also, use a spoon to remove the flesh off the skin so much easier and less messier.
@@arundhatidasgupta2096 Not necessarily. If you have a sharp knife, you might not feel the initial cut until it gets pretty deep. Apart from that, people slip, twitch, sneeze and jump all the time. I'm guessing this wasn't op's first avocado, yet it sounds like it was their first deep cut. It could easily happen to you too.
Hi I’m fateme,I’m from Afghanistan i make video about Taliban rules and human rights here, and what’s happening here to kids like slavery, child marriage..
As the obsessed avocado person I am, I have found plenty ways to get the pit out and also ways to slice it🤪 I like to press the pit out from the outside, I just press behind the pit and it just jumps out :)
Never ever use the knife to take the avocado seed out- trust me. I’ve tried to do it once, but the moist of the avocado made the seed slip so I cut my hand 🥲🥲
@@smellycatstudios8556 It's still dangerous, child. You should never push knives towards yourself. Besides it's easier to push the avocado from the back, the pit will come off.
Y’all do NOT know how many times I’ve stabbed my self cutting an avocado 😭 this helped so much! Tyy :) Edit 1: WHAAA?! 1k likes 😭 I’ve never gotten this much! Tysm yall :>
Normally, if your avocado is ripe, with a slight push from outside on the skin the pit will pop out immediately. You don't even have to try to pry ought anything.
That really felt uncomfortable to watch ngl 😂 I never once cut myself while cutting an avocado. And there is no problem in splitting it in you hand. Its easier.
It's survivor bias. The avo pit removal injury is so common in ERs they have a code for it. Her way of removing the pit is not good either, the safest way is to press on the back outside of the peel and the pit pops right out unless it's really not ripe.
Also you don’t have to use your thumb to take the pit out. All you have to do is take the avocado then squeeze it and it should fall out. This only works if the avocado is soft enough If it’s a hard avocado then yea this is a good way to do it❤
When I first watched it I thought to myself "Do people really not know how to cut a fruit and need a whole tutorial to help them?" but then I remembered Kendall Jenner cutting a cucumber then everything started to make sense.
I'm old enough to decide how I want to cut things the way I want them to be cut, and I don't like it when people says your way is wrong when in the end of the day it produce the same results as the other technique.
This is more about safety, not cutting results. Avocado cutting related hand injuries are extremely common and regularly lands people in the hospital, even if it hasn't happened to you.
Could you make a video of how to choose a ripe avocado? I’ve looked it up and found ways but some times they’ve led me to avocados that the seed it already growing in it so it’s filled with roots and I just am not sure how to tell.
When its green-brownish its the best to buy bc then you can eat it in like 2-5 days. If you buy like the one that all brown its like ripe ripe so u have to eat it within 1-3 days. Well thats what i know.

Turns out, I've been potentially injuring myself in three different ways every time I eat an avocado. What a sweet soul she is, gifting us with this. 🥰
My mum always does the knife technique to take out the avocado pit. She hits it so hard that it works every time! Once it even broke the pit’s shell 😅😂
I only do it the wrong way when I’m being lazy, but I literally never follow knife safety when I’m cooking so I’m way too used to doing things dangerously but carefully
I used to cut it like this. But using a butter knife is much easier when the skin won't peel off. And how easily the skin peels off also depends on the type of avocado.
I honestly thought this is how everyone does this, but for the pit one I used to take a butcher knife because it's nice and heavy and it can easily go through the seed, but now I just take a the edge handle part teaspoon and pry out the seed
We just rotate cut it on our hands and make them into medium size slices (when I think of slices I think of like piece of a large orange and not those small sizes), if you squeeze the ovocado the seed will pop out. You can take it out with a spoon too, watching you take it out with your finger tip gave me uneasy chills. It can also damage the seed (you can’t plant it anymore).
Or to cutting to slices you can leave the skin on and cut the skin with the avocado facing down the board like on the board and cut the skin and then once you have your slices you can peel off the skin of the slices and it will be fresh
I used to work st subway and we always used to cut avocado. Protip for the pit: you can wedge it out using a butter knife in a turning motion like you're opening a door knob so you don't have to risk your nail trying to get the pit.
Alternative: Simply pop out the seed by pressing both your thumbs onto the center on its back(peel). And it will pop out. Easier than digging into the seed .

bc of the part with the seed, I had splitted my fingernail in half…the knife got stuck in my finger instead of the seed and it took soooo long to heal
