- In a recent film purchase I came across about 2 minutes of footage taken at an open house at the Warner Van Sciver gravel plant in Tullytown, PA in 1960. It was a bit thin, so I added some stills and commentary to fill out the coverage into a mini-documentary. Enjoy!
My Dad worked here for 36 years and my uncle Mike drove the Locomotives.
Totally fantastic. It's just hard to believe the acreage and the size of that plant and I always thought the Midwest had the biggest quarries but apparently the east had the sand market cornered. By chance do you have any information on the history of the rail cars they used? They look like used ore jennies. Thanks much for bringing this to light
the baldwins look good ,love baldwin switchers great video thank you for sharing
Very nice historical photos.
Ah yes good video. I like those Baldwin's 🙂👍
Me too. Thanks for watching.
Another great find! More snippet's of history.
What a dramatic score. Scary to see people being hauled to the landfill. Guess that was the fifties.
Loved every minute.
Excellent stuff.
Wow! And those two Baldwins are still running around in revenue service to this day is amazing!
Say when will you cover those Baldwin-Westinghouse steeplecabs at the Iowa Traction Railway? And will you visit Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum when they finally finish work on their ex-TVA Baby Trainmaster?
Already did the Iowa Traction. I'll do the F-M once it's running again.
Neither Baldwin is in running condition at the moment, so not really in "revenue service".
Thx for watching.
wow! excellent find
Cool video. Where did you find it? I’ve been looking for footage from this day for awhile. I own most of the photos you shared. I own more and would share if you wanted to add more to it.
Part of the Houser collection I purchased recently. One of the slides I got on ebay was taken the same day, that's how I got the date. The film was undated, mixed in with a whole bunch of trolleys and tourist rrs. Thx for watching.
good stuff maynard!!
Nice !
What’s up with Ironman music
I like it, simple as that.
Is the audio original, or did you add it?
Added audio. The locomotive sounds are from 14 when it briefly ran under RCTHS ownership.
Whats there now? The landfill?
The lakes are now a park. Supposedly good bass fishing.
It is now a private club called Penn Warner.
This music is a turn off.
Nice!
