why the Item Category for Phantom showing as Stock Item, L ? Its not stocked, right ? Should be non-stock item ?
It is stocked but not until it gets assembled.

Yes, in S4HANA production versions are mandatory for phantom assemblies too.

You can use both. Material level will have the most priority.
