Some young people think fun is getting drunk, addicted to drugs or being promiscuous, but I say this is a real party, good fun, building something, being creative. Well done!!

I’m a 20 year old woman who’s studying to be a fashion/interior designer currently and I just want to tell you to not give up!! I’m so glad i decided to pursue what I love and i really hope you get the to experience the same. Just wanted to send some encouragement your way because I know it would’ve meant the world to me at 13. I’m sure you’re very talented and I’m sure if you stick with it you’ll be able to make some amazing things! 💕
Imaging: You go to a convention in this dress. When the crowd is overwhelming you, you can hide in the skirt, take a break and have a privet Tea Party in a colorful Tent. 🤩
But urfi javed has like -10 talent, whereas this girl is like really talented, she makes dresses which are decent and are actually wearable, i just saw her other shorts and i am really impressed
That's so cool that there was impossible but but it's awesome and I think you should wear it to a party because everybody's going to go wow whoa hopefully everybody likes it😊😊
in general, how did you start sewing and making clothes? (with or without weird elements thrown into the mix, such as the phone cases) i want to start, mainly with making cosplay or halloween costumes for myself but i have extremely low budget and no knowledge really of how to actually handsew (but i do have a sewing machine)
RUclips is a great place for this. I personally do have a proper education in sewing but I started learning on RUclips. There are also a lot of great handsewing tutorials here and with patience you can make anything without a machine. And if you safe up, most mechanical machines are very cheap second-hand and usually will still last you a long time if you take care of it. Wouldn't recommend digital machines when you buy something second hand, though. But for now, try learning the hand sewing stitches using RUclips or Pinterest tutorials and then start by doing small beginner projects. Eventually you will build up the patience to do larger projects and the skill to make really beautiful things. Having to sew by hand is not a shame. Especially in the historical costuming community it is very common to be more historically accurate. There even are some RUclipsrs in the community who hate machine sewing even though they have a machine and dread every project that involves it. So, don't be discouraged!
(Disclaimer long comment) Its really easy, im about to finish up my Fashion Degree for Masters in Costume Design at TWU. It all started when I wanted to make costumes for the Pep rallies at school. I sat down, designed an awfully drawn costume, then went and found old clothes i never wore and would hand sew my entire piece 😅 it took quite a while. It isnt so much about the materials, what youre making, the lights etc. It really comes down to the drive and the want for a finished product. No matter how experienced you are, you will mess up. Hell ive been doing it now almost professionally and I still mess up all the time. But seeing your idea come to life is the real satisfaction of it all. Id start by trying to alter clothing you already have, with thrifted clothing, clothes you really dont care about and really get a good base on your technique, how to stitch straight lines, begin understanding how to tailor clothes to fit yourself, then move on to learning how to make and use a pattern block. Every piece you have seen walk the red carpet, made by this beautiful girl etc. Have all been made from a universal blank pattern block. Once you know how to draft these, you can literally create anything and you wont need for buying excessive patterns and following instructions from different sources that dont really have that good foundation. There actually is an amazing pattern making book that ive used since my freshman year that I use religiously, I can email it to you if youd like. It is alot of information but it will be a great tool for you. Just take your time and get good at the basics first, dont overwhelm yourself with too much at first or it will deter you away from the hobby overall, and you will do amazing.
I started by just making my own halloween costumes!! tbh when i started most of the materials i used were just leftover clothes and fabric (the bodice of my anna costume is my brother’s old curtains) and patterns i could print off the internet! I know it sounds simple, but i really believe in the “just go for it” learning way - pick a project or something you are excited about making, and then try to make it (even if you think you don’t have the skills/perfect materials yet). Search up tutorials, and just try your best - it won’t come out perfect, but it will come out WAY better than you thought, and you will learn so much!! I’ve never had any formal sewing education - everything i’ve learned i’ve learned from tutorials online and just trying it out!
thank you so much for the replies, these are seriously really helpful. i've actually never heard of a lot of these tips before but thank you for them, it makes it sound a lot easier to get started. tbh i might just try to make my own costume this year and have that be the first big (kinda) thing i do. thank you so much to everyone in the replies; your help and tips are greatly appreciated
