I don't think so, serbia also has maja, mihajlovic, rasic and Italy has de gennaro, folie, sylla, bosetti. I think USA doesn't have a player that is much better than the others, also I prefer egonu, boskovic and zhu than drews. For me, Italy, China and Serbia are in the same level, while USA and Brazil will try to surprise

And the fact that Lang Ping quit shows that she was really embarassed of their performance. I'm a big fan of China btw. I was rooting for them to be on the finals but they played horrible. Lost to even weaker teams.

Zhang C.N. has a sort of renewed confident aura. I will choose her to be the main diagonal partner of Zhu Ting over LYY. LYY can pound the ball but Zhang can not just pound the ball but can defend and sweep as well.

@@dongyubao2752 full of excuses....just admit it other teams prepared well and were better then china at the end of the day ...even coach lang ping said that they underestimated thier opponents....and talking about injury zhu ting has it for almost three years ....when they won the world cup she was fine ....when they swept the us in three straight sets they she was fine ...and at the the Olympics when they realized they weren't going to make ...they pull out the injury card to try and save face ....that's what happens....they were so sure if themselves, there was big talk in and outside of china , tv programs on how they were 100 % sure they were going to make it back to back ..the reality is that other teams have studied china well and are improving....and from what u said that's just got to show how much they rely on zhu ....without her I dont even think they will be in the top 5...

Looking back, this was one of the smartest moves for Karch to do. He knew the Olympics were coming up and he did not want to risk China scouting the players for that (Hence Kim Hill at libero, Hannah Tapp starting at MB, Larson playing) lets not forget also starting Thompson over Annie Drews. It worked wonders and now USA are Olympic champions!

Strategic move indeed! I mean Kim Hill's defensive skill is good but she is not Justine Wong-Orantes. That's why I am surprised that she was the libero in this match. Kelsey is much steadier than hill. I think Karch and the USA team are really taking notes on this match against China knowing they are heavy favorites in the lead up to the Olympics.

Maybe the US didn’t want to exert more effort to the game as they were already assured the top Spot of the standing. This game has no bearing at all. The moment Japan won against Germany. The final four was already selected.
But still Kudos to China. If they were really after the final four. They could have past through it. But maybe their plan was really to expose the youngsters in as many games as possibles.

@@lukasloh2509 Lol, I think the US gave their best. I don’t think they will throw away games like this even if it’s non-bearing. Also, they know they will only have this chance to face China who is also in Pool B since China didn’t make it to the semis. In a way, China not making it into the top 4 and beating the number 1 seed and then dipping to prepare for the Olympics is kind of a blessing in disguise.

I love USA but they really need to keep their feet on the ground. They might be undefeated but China with its best players on the court would just be too much for them. They should respect China as they are not Olympic champions for nothing. Some people say it was a non-bearing game and USA was not taking them seriously. That's funny because those lineup who played against China was the same lineup of players who defeated other teams. Also, if they were not really serious about the match, why they put their best players on court when they first met China.

But VNL semis is not even set the day after their match against China. Maybe they don't want to be scouted? But all of them have already played and a match against China is not the only game other teams can scout them for.
Even if USA fielded Larson, or whoever you say are the best players of USA, it just won't work because their middle isn't effective at all. China has all of the attacks guarded - blocked or deflected. And their defense is impeccable! Bring home the gold medal in Olympics China!

Very excellent China WVT, they played superb. That 1st set 25-10 is really murdered from defense, solid quick reaction and recovering. All of them they contributed well. Meltdown for team USA.

Such a great game. China dropped their real PLAYERS - first six - while the USA did not (like Carlini being the setter and so with the liberos). Kim Hill did a great job on receiving but unable to fit the massive spikes of China. The USA's spikers didn't get their best SETS because it's not Carlini - being the setter.

A superb and convincing 3-0 straight sets win by China's A team over table-topping and thus far undefeated USA in VNL. China fielded its usual strongest combination while USA had a strange combination of players, and this was shown in the first set in which they were crushed 10-25. The next two sets were much better for the Americans but they still lost 20-25 and 17-25. Ding Xia bested Micha Hancock in the contest of two left-handed setters. With that convincing win over USA, the Chinese A team can be said to have accomplished its mission at the VNL, which is to defeat strong teams in the run-up to the Tokyo Olympics and strive to win back to back gold.
Micha's setting is too slow, causing the attackers being blocked frequently.
