Yes!..and a little no. Thank you for saying this, I forgot to mention that doing a tight circle is easy to do with no bonus movement speed. In end game gear the circle just gets too out of control and difficult to control. (Incoming wall of text - hopefully helpful to whoever reads this -_- ) When I first started playing Centipede, I was only doing the back-and-forth pattern as you say but ran into two minor issues: Unfortunately, Centipede and Arachna differ a little bit mechanically as Arachna will drop a web with each step but Centipede needs to cover a bit of forward, uninterrupted distance, before a new segment is added. It’s hard to explain which is why I should’ve visually shown it in the video but check it out in try mode so you can focus on the tail end of Centipede. When that last segment moves forward, you know you have “laid” a new segment down somewhere. Knowing that, if you are trying to make a tight line underneath a boss, each time you turn back on yourself the first few steps are wasted, laying no new segments. So, basically each time you zig-zag you are only laying a couple of new segments (again, watch the tail to see how slowly it moves forward) which means it’s taking you longer to get your DPS engine up and running under the boss. When you add in high movement speed it can also get a little difficult to maintain a tight line as well, from what I found, leaving some segments not attacking or not stacked. For me personally, knowing that Centipede needs to be moving forward to lay segments quickly, while needing to maintain control with all the movement speed, I find doing a square is the best of both worlds. I play on PC so tapping WASD is simple enough. It keeps a tight pattern so everything hits the boss, is layered so it gets the bonus damage, and you are always moving in a forward direction optimizing segment laying speed. But at the end of the day, if you have more control with tapping back and forth, you don’t want to bother putting down a square, and are still killing the boss? Then you are doing it right and I'll shut up! 🙃
@@VigogamingHDI'm just theorizing. I finally got to play centipede yesterday and found it quite difficult to use as damage in adf, but I didn't get it in my set very much so maybe more practice is needed. It was very strange because when my partner used it as support he was doing big damage on an earth zombie floor. The puddle under the boss makes things more difficult and I play on my phone so squares might be tough, but I'm going to try it out. For now I'm thinking of I use centipede it will be for support mainly, but I also plan to try it as damage on floors with the earth modifier. I appreciate your response and hope to see more videos from you in the future. Thank you.
@@brettquinn2396 Yeah ADF fire underneath the boss is such a pain and hard counter for Centipede for sure. Just remember, the only portion of Centipede's body that can take damage is his starting torso so you can try to minimize standing in that when not actively stacking segments. And hopefully it's damage usage will go up when you get Centipede awakened! Just imagine the damage you are experiencing with Centipede now and then increasing that by 500%..Should be a nice bump!
@@VigogamingHD it is awakened. I did this before even using it. I need more opportunities to use it. Do you have success using centipede as a damage dealer on higher floors? I only tried on floor one and it worked, but was slow compared to those I'd normally use.
Wouldn't it be best to tap left, right, left, right etc similar to stacking webs with arachna, in order to maximize centipede damage?
Awesome video btw. Thank you.
