For being Hyperkin, I wasn't expecting much out of the Hyperkin Genesis clone but it works pretty decent I thought, in comparison to other clone consoles. I never thought it'd even come close to working with the Mega SD - interesting stuff.
I have a Hyperkin Mega. It's a cool little system, kinda seems like a good thing to test all manner of carts and repros on. I like that you did this. I want a TerraOnion Cd cart.
@@bigpopparand1 I loved mine. Tested just about every cart I had and only 2 that I can remember didnt work well and that might just be the condition of the carts themselves.
I already have an original Genesis and 32X. I'm happy. Choosing an emulator on a chip over OG hardware or a FPGA is like choosing Olive Garden over authentic Italian food.
I wonder if the audio not working on the Hyperkin when playing Sega CD is the same reason you have to mod the Sega Nomad and Sega Genesis Model 3 for the Mega SD to work.
With my AtGames Sega Genesis Flashback 2018, I was able to download a custom firmware update from the GBATemp forums through the SD card slot on the Sega Genesis Flashback and I was able to play Sonic CD and the Sega CD version of Snatcher on my Sega Genesis Flashback with the Sega CD audio. I can also use the same features on these games as well such as rewinding and creating save states. It is amazing.
I remember emulating Sonic CD years ago and having no audio, so either you might be lacking the redbook audio, or if it works on other hardware then maybe the Hyperkin simply just isn't able to register or boot up in reading it even with the Mega SD's aid. Testing other CD games that work fine on other hardware would go a long way in figuring that one out.
I'm pretty sure the console itself would need to support cartridge audio for the CD audio to work in most games, and I doubt that it does. You get no CD audio on the Mega Sg unless you enable the cartridge audio option.
Sonic's bubble shield thing on Sonic 2 wasn't properly rendered on the Hyperkin but that was the only graphical error I saw. Music was proper speed and there was no screen tearing or frame drops. That Mastersystem issue kinda sucks. You can definitely tell there's some glitches here and there with Sega CD other than the audio issue.
Hello I really like this episode I also have the Retron Mega HD from hypercane I have an original flash card and you can play in Master System games on the American region is a simple trick by instead of playing HDMI youcanplayit composite back to the system I have discovered that when you play your Master System games on any flash card by using only regular the composite cablesit can Master System games good but unfortunately it won't play completely on HDMI could be the system's past Hardware set up I might have a hunch that it could be the same thing with the Sega CD games as well see if you could try putting in the composite most likely could have the same issue I'm no expert but I know for a fact that the Master System games do work on regular composite cables for the Retron Mega HD really like the system it has its limitations but it's a but it's a good system really like all you PS1 classic episodes thank you for showing us the demonstration with the mega SD I do have a regular Genesis model 2 and I do wish to purchase it someday in the future keep up the great work

I know its hated, like, I KNOW it, but... the brand new version of the atgames sega, the one with the sdcard slot, has some firmware upgrades that fix almost all of the old issues, plus it..uh..well...you can load master system, game gear, sega cd, genesis, and 32x games, and through some CFW thats out there you can add the boxart and everything, a lot like hakchi. Honestly its a working version, well, now that its discontinued. So I mean, if someone has a 2018 version, or you come across one at a yard sale or thrift store for cheap, its actually decent now with all the new firmware upgrades. D-pad on the controller is a little mushy, but it isn't infared anymore, its the 2.4 wireless as well. So I mean, if ya got one sitting around, or find a cheapie...
Hello have you test the megaretron hd hyperkin with mega cd and with the rca output to have the sound ? is it works fine ??? I m waiting your answer to known if i buy the terraonion ? thanks for your help !!
Does anyone know if they've sorted out the sound issues for this with the Hyperkin? I'm kinda interested in getting both, but if the music isn't working it doesn't seem worth it.
MLP! I actually just picked up the Mega Retron HD and had some weird issues when playing PAL games, but I noticed when I flipped the switch back to NTSC U after boot the problems corrected. Did you try that with the Master System games too see if the glitches go away?
Yeah. I did that stuff when it first came out trying to figure it out. I was messing around switching it and resetting tonight when i recorded this and it behaves the same.
To put de mega sg and the mega sd together for me is redundant, two FPGAs together, a simple firmware update on the mega sg will just give you the possibility to run Sega CD without extra hardware. For me the mega sd or mega Everdrive Pro are best with original hardware, same the mega sg it's ideal for people with a big MegaDrive library, but both together seems stupid to me.
I didn't find a Mega Retron in my local video game store but they found a Genesis Model 2 and i paid it around 100 bucks with a football game@@Wizard66
why need a clone console why the original cost no more then 30 bucks? here in Europe you can buy a MD1 with games and everything from 40 euro?! why need a clone then, also you can find tons of them on Ebay.
Well the one reason people buy clones nowadays anyway is due to a lot of these consoles having HDMI making it more convenient for some to hook up and use.
Being able to have 3 consoles in one in my small studio flat and the fact it's HDMI AND the fact I can play American and Japanese games at 60hz rather than PAL ones at 50hz.
Don't go saying that, Everytime I bring that up idiots come out the woodworks complaining they are just trying to make a way for everyone to enjoy the same dam thing over and over.
If you're gonna use roms on clone hardware, why bother with a +200,- USD (yes more than two hunded) flashcart? You can build about 4 complete Retropies for that amount of money. And yes if you use the RP 3 or 4 it will run anything up to PS1 just fine. (Even some N64 and DC).
Da's pas flauw - I been enjoying hacking the psone classic with emulation - really easy to mess with. Raspberry pi 3B definitely is good when properly configured and way better support with n64 and Dreamcast.
I agree. I don't understand people sometimes. They go out and buy a $280 plus flash cart but complain about mega SG being overpriced. Rin makes a great point, why would buy this for a clone console
@@MrJZ27 not to mention a model 1 Genesis is cheaper than a new clone and everything will work. Best budget option would probably be ever drive+model 1+ retro rgb cables. Not cheap by any means but certainly a fair bit less than a mega sg and everdrive.
@@MrJZ27I wouldn’t buy a $280 flash cart, so don’t overgeneralize by saying “they.” I was considering buying this (if I could find it cheaper) for my clone console, but seeing how it won’t work for any of the ones I own, I guess that’s a no-go.

The wierd bubble thing is just from recording.
We need to test it with the first version of SRT (the version without HDMI).

Test it on the Atgames Sega Genesis clone system that, for some reason, was licensed by SEGA.

Here's hoping Sega CD support comes to the current Mega Everdrive X7 so I don't have to buy yet another flash cart.
That’s doubtful 😂😂
X7's is not near powerful enough to handle Sega CD.
Right on my man! I'm definitely going to pick up one of these.
they should make those clone consoles with "remote turn on or off" button, to make it more modern and ergonomic

Have you tryed to mod your Retro Trio to run Virtua Racing? Maybe it works to run the mega sd roms.
the retro trio plus has some issues with the multi carts for example a nes multicart double dragon 3 wont start

No 32X testing?
Yes, no 32x testing... Because tell me where the interface cable is supposed to plug into? 32x cannot be used on clone consoles.
