Malcolm is acting neither as a moralist or an anti-scientist. He's acting pretty consistently with a very cautious chaos theory specialist. Self organization and emergence are very important concepts within complexity theory (related to chaos theory), and Malcolm basically just supports that we simply assume that this world will self-organize in a way favorable to us. But that's arrogant, and misled. Life itself, as a concept, doesn't care if humans live or die. Only we do.
I really like how a big character from the novel who seemed to be only given a minor part in the first film went on to have such an important role in the new trilogy.
@Jurassic Hero I mean it’s not like Wu had much of a personality in the first movie to betray, plus he’d probably act nice in front of potential investors and Hammond just so he could keep playing god
@Jurassic Hero Because his role in the new trilogy was just unnecessary as hell for his character in the first film. Thet made him a villain for christ's sake, when he was just some innocent lead scientist in the first JP, that gave some exposition Also, yeah a year later lol
@@isthatbraised bcz he clearly wasn't used right in the 1st movie. He's literally an important character in the books. My favorite line from Henry Wu in the film series was: "NOTHING in Jurassic World is Natural" which was really a burn on critics of the franchise who complained that the dinosaurs aren't scientifically accurate.
Dr. Wu has always been an interesting and underrated character as well as a unique kind of villain. He's a lot like Dr. Frankenstein. He literally embodies Malcolm's statement in that he is a scientist so obsessed with whether he can do something, he doesn't stop to think if he should or rather, doesn't care. Plus, he tries to justify his misdeeds with debates that really don't apply like "a cat is a monster to a canary". Yeah, but a cat come from nature and cat has a place in the ecosystem. Dinosaurs had their chance and Indo-species are man made. Like I said, he's like Dr. Frankenstein. He did it for one simple reason: he wanted to prove that he could, but didn't stop to think of what would happen after.
"Doesn't Get Enough Attention in this Franchise" Klayton, the guy has been one of the Main Antagonists for the past Two Movies, I'm pretty sure That Qualifies as Attention.

Wu was exactly what Malcolm warned against. "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't didn't stop to think if they should"
Not exactly, since Wu wanted to make disnosaure as stupid and slow as a cow. They didn't need dangerous animals. And since, it's just the carnivore who was a real problem in jurassic park... I like Dr. Henry Wu because he was the most popular Jurassic Park scientist until in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, He wants Blue the Velociraptor’s blood to create the villainous Indoraptor, after the creation of Indominus Rex. I really do agree with your opinion about Henry Wu in the Jurassic Park movies.

B. D. Wong's portrayal of Dr Henry Wu is one of my favourite parts of all three movies he's been in. I know he's an antagonist, but I can't help cheering him on whenever I see him. If he dies in the film series I'll be a bit sad, I'd rather see Owen Grady die...
I would like to see Wu get a very Novel esqe Death. I would have Wu's death in the InGen safe house. He's been genetically recreating Raptors, his greatest genetic adversary. He was trying to recreate a perfect Raptor but failed again. The Raptor breaks out of it's pen through a glass viewing panel and growls. Wu yells " I created you!" And throws a chair. The Raptor seems angrier and pounces and kills Wu off screen. Panning down to show the Raptor behind the desk. A shot very reminecent if a certain Park Warden's final moments. The final shot is a close up on the Raptor's Head. It sneers as blood drips down its teeth.
Klayton Fioriti I would really like to see more of the Novel Deaths brought to the Silver Screen. Hell, I'd volunteer to be a Victim if it helped it come to light.
I like the imagery but Dr.Wu seems too smart and realistic to scream "I created you!" To a velociraptor if he feels it won't do anything, It just seems really comic booky. Maybe if it we're somebody more arrogant.
Sebeairiah Suarez I think Spielbergian or Cheesy are the correct terms. Comic Booky is more West era Batman or the Comic book movies of that era. Wu is rather Arrogant in the World series of films. The only reason he doesn't want to sell the Indoraptor is because he doesn't want coppies of his Creation. He wants Control.
Bryce Mckenzie I guess he is, but I definitely think he needs to die in JW3. If not his character wouldnt seem orchestrated well enough, so yeah I do hope they kill him off in a memorable way

These videos where you go into more detail about movie characters are awesome!! It’s cool because now I understand why these characters are the way they are and why they do what they do!
Heya Klayton! Got a bit of a critique here. This was a great selection of exerts from the novel, however I think these Crichton novel samples would benefit a lot of having page numbers appear, either mentioned in your VO or appearing on-screen. It would make it easier to find in the book, but more importantly it makes it clearer that there is a divide, and how big that divide is.
Not to mention BD Wong who plays him does an amazing job hes exactly the reason jurassic park and world exist he discovered a way to fill in the gaps of the dinosaurs DNA

I think it’s pretty obvious they’ll kill Wu off. The newer movies seem more and more concerned with a gruesome body count, and Wu’s death would both contribute to a body count and be a nod to the books.
It just hit me like a truck...why did Wu control the dinosaur’s chromosomes to dictate they’re gender as a form of population control, why not just neuter them like a simple house cat or dog?
When will you be releasing the other parts about WU, as a regular gamer and lover of the Jurrasic Franchise i have since grown to like your work so keep it up.
If Wu was never born, none of the events of the movies and books would of happened, so Wu is basically the villain of the JP franchise. Not saying that I hate him though, cause I still admire him because of his smarts😁
Angad Singh Dhillon Wu would probably disagree with that. Despite of all his skill, he knows that there are others just as skilled as he is. He implied to Masrani that even if they'd pull a plug on his operation, it wouldn't be the end of it. "If I do not innovate, someone else will." Of course, he could be very well just shielding himself from criticism there, but still.
What do you think Wu did in the time between the 1993 Incident and Masarani Global incorporating InGen in 1998? Since he wouldn't have to Clone Dinosaurs for Hammond.
Honestly i can't really see wu as a villain, but definitely not a hero or good guy, something of a mix of mad scientist and brilliant pioneer of scientific advancement
I would say not it was announced that Wong would reprise Wu in JW that he got more attention. Out of JP, JW, FK, I say JW is the most attention he's gotten. When he and Masrani were talking about Indominus, I got novel vibes when Masrani scolds him for what animal DNA he used for Indominus which slightly comes from Hammond blaming Wu for the park's fall in the book. People say he was antagonist in JW and FK, but I say just a mad scientist who just want along with the real villains' plans. From how he was surprised by Hoskins' change of plan over the phone and refusing to go with Eli's wishes to draw blood from Blue unless she was in full health or to sell Indoraptor at the auction, he wasn't really on the villain's side. If he's to return in 2021, he might have a chance to redeem, but it might be too late if he dies, which if he does, it will be in a similar manner to the novel. Wong did say in an interview from 2015, he'd like Wu to die.
I think Dr.Henry Wu's death in the novel is too fast it was just like 'ups raptor got Wu now he is dead lol' Probably John Hammond looking to Wu from above and being like 'Where did I do wrong...'
"Nothing in Jurassic Park is natural, We have Always filled gaps in the genetic code and if the code were pure many of these animals would look quite different but you didn't ask for reality you asked for more teeth!"
Klayton, I have a question for you. How quick can you get the next video about Wu out? Maybe, tomorrow or the next day? A real cliff hanger at the end for this one. GJ man.
I don't really like were they took Wu in the movies, turning him into a villain with little regard for human life. Lets not forget that in the book Henry Wu is a hero who dies saving Ellie Sattler, who stubbornly refuses to listen to Wu.
Klayton Fioriti Especially now that the past 2 films seem to be setting up for it. Weaponized dinosaurs, genetic tampering with humans as well. People are talking about Blue, Indo and that clone girl all sharing dna...
I think Jurassic World could really flesh out Wu better as he comes off more like a mad scientist even though he lampoons that in the first JW. In FK hes literally made an unstable monster and only is there to show that he was behind it. In the novel and even a bit in the first JW Wu feels more human. Like his convo with Masrani he points out that hes being made out to be a madman but he only did what Masrani / InGen asked of him. They just wanted to blame him - although he had more responsibility behind I. Rex as he wanted to use the animal for war.
GraveRoda Nah they confirmed that the indoraptor was the last hybrid. Also that was an idea for Jp 4, but they dropped it and I don't think they're going to touch that again
OmegaFreelacer318 Aw man... How sick/stupid would that be, tho? Friggin Henry Wu with all black, sunglasses, raptor eyes, active camo, high jumps, super strength
Klayton you really need to touch on the conversation Wu has with Hammond in the first novel how Wu wants to upgrade the dinosaurs to the next phase and Hammond objects. that conflict between those two characters needs to be bough to light on this channel!!!! make it happen bro!!!!! lol
I think Wu will have a more heroic role in the next movie. Maybe apologizing for the wrong he did, then getting killed trying to save someone. I can’t really say he will be killed off still being a “bad guy”
I can't wait for the next movie, I really want to see if his end will be the same in the novel! Speaking of that... Klayton, can you remind me if Dodson ever showed up again in the movie universe? I can't remember anything besides his conversation with Nedry
Unless you want to count the JP Game where he's on the phone, he's kind of just not been included. I don't know if they'll add him back honestly. Because of the whole controversy surrounding his actor
Klayton Fioriti agreed... I just remembered that about him. He has a big role in the Novels, but never got the justice that he deserves in a movie... Too bad, his death in The Lost World is brutal and epic haha
Pretty sure Dr. Wu will become the central antagonist in JW3. That seems to be how they're setting him up. BTW, Klayton, what's the name of the music you used in this vid? Not Decay, but the one after with the flute.

"If I do not innovate, someone else will."
Of course, he could be very well just shielding himself from criticism there, but still.
AngodtheGod He’s a Genetics Robert Oppenheimer.
Great video
What do you think Wu did in the time between the 1993 Incident and Masarani Global incorporating InGen in 1998? Since he wouldn't have to Clone Dinosaurs for Hammond.
Well I know he cloned the hybrid plant...but in 1999 he cloned the Spinosaurus! 😱
Word? The feather experiment?
I clone potato
Great video.
This is really cool
I think Dr.Henry Wu's death in the novel is too fast it was just like 'ups raptor got Wu now he is dead lol'
Probably John Hammond looking to Wu from above and being like 'Where did I do wrong...'
"Nothing in Jurassic Park is natural, We have Always filled gaps in the genetic code and if the code were pure many of these animals would look quite different but you didn't ask for reality you asked for more teeth!"
I'm calling it; Blue kills Wu
Blwu
OMG.... as someone who loves the first one and still thing its it's the best, I totally forgot that Wu and the same actor played in Jurassic Park.
Klayton, I have a question for you. How quick can you get the next video about Wu out? Maybe, tomorrow or the next day? A real cliff hanger at the end for this one. GJ man.
"Brought jurassicmpark to life" how punny.
*Inserts awesome Henry Wu quote here*
great vid
His original death was so gruesome
I don't really like were they took Wu in the movies, turning him into a villain with little regard for human life.
Lets not forget that in the book Henry Wu is a hero who dies saving Ellie Sattler, who stubbornly refuses to listen to Wu.
In a future video you could talk about one of the original plans for Jurassic Park 4, the human, Dino hybrids. Keep up the great work!
Oh yes! I'll be talking about that eventually! :D
Klayton Fioriti Especially now that the past 2 films seem to be setting up for it. Weaponized dinosaurs, genetic tampering with humans as well. People are talking about Blue, Indo and that clone girl all sharing dna...
Are you using music from JPOG? Nice touch!
Thanks! That's where the track I was hearing is from: Dusk.
Pretty sure he'll be the main villain in JW3.
Calling it now: next movie will have Human/Dinosaur hybrids and Henry Wu is going to be Wesker
WESSSSKKKKEERRRRR!!!
CHRISSSSS!
Are you with me Doctor Wu?
Are you really just a shadow of the man that I once knew?
Klayton you really need to touch on the conversation Wu has with Hammond in the first novel how Wu wants to upgrade the dinosaurs to the next phase and Hammond objects. that conflict between those two characters needs to be bough to light on this channel!!!! make it happen bro!!!!! lol
I think Wu will have a more heroic role in the next movie. Maybe apologizing for the wrong he did, then getting killed trying to save someone. I can’t really say he will be killed off still being a “bad guy”
Nice video.More of jw evolution please.
Coming soon! :D
Oh I am so happy this video is out I have always wondered doctor wu's origins in the book
:D
I always found him turning into a villain in JW surprising.
I never knew who dr.wu was until Jurassic world
