Really interesting. I am 48 and have only recently starting watching make up videos, so have only just realised how hooded my eyes are, and they are very. So only recently been bothered by it but now I know, it bugs me. I don't have money to do this but interested to see the process and results incase I do in the future.

I've had great experiences with Arnica - during other procedures, I never had a blepharoplasty but have had hand surgery; doctors couldn't believe how soon it had healed. So please take Arnica homeopathic globules (preferably C30 or 200K), before, during and after the procedure. This will help reduce bruising. Moreover, Calendula gel will help the skin heal quickly and beautifully, and will reduce swelling. I'm sending you good vibes!

Hi Karen, my Mom had this surgery at the end of July. She is 88. The reason I am sharing this though is because even at her advanced age, she did really well! She did have it under local anesthetic with no problems. She has high blood pressure and her kidneys aren't good but again, no problems. And the best news is, she made such strides everyday! She looked like she had lost a fight with a prize fighter ;) but even that dissipated quickly. I think anytime we go for something like this it is natural, and smart, to be apprehensive. Good luck in whatever you choose :D

You look good whatever you wear Karen, don't listen to them do what makes you feel good. You are very brave I would not consider surgery on my eyes, I wont even have laser surgery I'd rather wear glasses. xxxxxx

I had mine done almost 2 yrs ago. Under twilight anastasia. I talked to the dr while he was doing it. No.pain at all. My insurance paid for mine because it was blocking my vision.
I don't know about your health care system there but you might check with insurance first before paying out of pocket. My eye dr sent me to have it done and with the eye test he did insurance covered all but 130.00. So worth checking into. I did have swelling I put an ice pack on for a couple days. Some bruising but not what I thought I would have. I was surprised there is very little pain. Because it is just skin I didn't have to take anything for pain. I hope yours goes as smooth as mine. My eyes where very sensitive to light for a few weeks and I had to wear sunglasses because the light gave me a headache. My eyes adjusted to the extra light coming in and that went away.
I love that I can see better and put on eyeshadow and it looks like it should. You really have to look for the scar to be able to see it.
    Hugs

Our health system doesn't work like that I'm afraid, we don't have insurance! We get our medical stuff on the NHS and cosmetic we have to pay for, and this is 100% cosmetic - NHS don't pay for Bleph under any circumstance. Thanks so much for your experience, that's really interesting! x

Had mine done when I was 48. Had it done by a very famous ps in S. California. It was a disaster. I looked like Psyclops....By the Grace of God, the ps sent me to an Oculoplasty. He saved me. I would highly highly highly recommend and Oculoplastic surgeon. Good Luck, Karen.

Oh Karen this is so exciting 😃. I can't wait to see the 'after'. It's funny but I didn't really do eyeshadow either until I was nearing my wedding at nearly 41 years old & thought id better learn so I went on You Tube. It was only then that I realised the trouble id had with doing my eyes was because they were so hooded. Kinda wish I'd never looked at You Tube because it didn't hugely bother me before lol ! I'd love to have surgery, maybe I'll ask for that instead of an eternity ring 😂 x.

I had mine done in 2008 here in the USA and it still looks awesome, I’m 65 now. My insurance covered it because it was effecting my vision. My surgeon invented the laser method and people come from all over the world to see him. I had no stitches and no bruising afterwards. Just make sure he does not remove to much skin cause then you will have problems. A friend had too much removed from another surgeon and when she sleeps you can see part of her eyeball and now she has very very dry eyes.

I have been thinking a LONG time about this procedure - I have tons of eyeshadow palettes that I just can't use anymore, as soon as I go in with the softest of brushes the skin moves all over the place, it really is depressing. I don't know why but eyeshadow just makes it look ten times worse. I just can't put shadow on like a 'normal' person. I think I WOULD prefer a general as I'm such a wuss lol - bit weird considering I've had brain surgery ....(my eyes were so bruised I couldn't open them when I came out of the coma after 12 weeks). What type of surgeon does this - does it come under plastic surgery?
I wish you the best of luck and the fact that you are willing to go through with it has really given me the confidence to think more seriously about this .... and of course if I tell Andrew (your biggest fan) that you are having the procedure he might not try and talk me out of it. Please do let us know how it went, how painful etc (sorry I shouldn't be talking about that bit lol). Good luck Karen xxxx

Wow Karen I was the same as you, i didn’t find proper make up application at 40ish. Before that it was only one shadow, bronzer all over my face, mascara and lippie/gloss. No concealer, foundation, skincare, primers, lipliner/eyeliner etc! I got made redundant and my illnesses got worse, so I was watching RUclips videos (while stuck in bed) on makeup, and I now have 2 Alex’s style drawer units full of makeup lol and constantly looking for more lol I’d love to get the loose skin taken away from my eyes, but I’ll never be able to afford it, so I just put up with it lol I’m 48 and have lines on my head, etc, so I know it’s only going to get worse, so much to look forwards to lol. Good luck Karen xx

About 16 years ago I had a mini brow lift and the eyelid surgery. On the mini brow lift I just had two small cuts (one right above each temple in the hairline) I had no surprised look because the lift was done more to the outer side of each eye and not in the middle. On the eyelid surgery, after the healing process, there was no visible scar at all. Yes, I probably should go and get it all done again now as you are correct in that you do continue to age. At times I wonder how bad it would be now if had not had the procedure done back then. I hope you have good luck and a good recovery.

I honestly dont blame you for wanting to take the chance. It bothers you, so very proud of your attitude. I can say i dont see it, or a problem with your eyes, but im not the one that looks in the mirror, knowing full well you could try something. That could very well make you happy. Im praying for that for you. Your so lucky to have Kevin, what a star is he . Need to see how you did this loom if you can, just one eye . I know you struggle, so please don't worry if you cant. Should have seen me last week. Had another hospital appointment. I had to wash my face off and start again. Disaster. Love to you all xxx 💖💗💝 Palm springs Cindy could do with some sisterly love xxx

This was very informative. Thank you. I live in the United States so I had to Google how much it would cost in dollars vs pounds and was shocked at how expensive it is. I would love to have this done some day but I’m not sure I would ever be willing to put out that much money. So, I am glad to have you as my guinea pig to see if it’s even worth it. 😄

Hi Karen...good luck on your surgery. I had this done and it’s worth it for sure. I was told to start taking Arnica about 5 days before my surgery and then after. You may want to ask your Doctor about it. This helped so much with the bruising. I am one that bruises easily. I also have hyper extension and one of my eyes is still great. The other has a bit on the outside I’d like to have taken off again. Can’t wait to see your journey.

Amazingly interesting Karen thank you for sharing. I'm getting mine done in Turkey next March and the one thing the surgeon has so far asked is that I stop all chemicals on my face 6 weeks before the operation. I'm getting a face lift, fat transfer and lower eyes done at the same time so it may be something to do with this but it might be worth asking about with your surgeon. All chemicals included acids as I asked. Going to have to find out just how much of my skincare routine I have to stop as its pretty large! Just thought it was worth mentioning this to you.

Karen - can you have the surgery done multiple times, like at 40, 50, 60, etc as the skin loosens more? Or is it only one go?
