Considering the possibility that Magolor is being controlled by the master crown, it’s possible that he initially wanted it to become a greater magician because he felt his powers weren’t good enough. But then, the crown made his sanity colapse and start desiring actual world domination. And Landia didn’t see him as an actual enemy, he guarded the crown to prevent others from getting corrupted by it’s powers. It was for Magolor’s well being and he was just too naive to understand and let the crown go. And maybe Kirby wasn’t outright trying to kill Magolor, he was trying to snap him out of the crown’s trance even if some harm had to be done.
One small thing I like about him - most of the projectiles you'd swallow and spit back at him aren't impact stars. He makes greater use of his own energy balls.
My favorite boss in this game, along with his EX version. Also, this is my favorite form I like to fight Magolor in. Hate his second form because of the Master Crown possessing him.
