Fun Fact, as seen in one of Zero Two’s official renders the red tips of its wings are actually stringy like blood vessels or exposed nerves. Imagine an HD Kirby game showing That.

They should totally remake Kirby 64 at this point. More levels, more content, etc. And the obligatory "Soul" version of the final boss to truly wrap things up.

The entire Dark Matter trilogy needs to get remade,not Return to Dreamland.That game is fine as it is

The Dark Matter Trilogy allows for a more unique experience, which would be great if remade in the modern Kirby style.

There are a few inaccuracies in this remake:
1. Shooting the eye is not supposed to do damage, merely cause the boss to tilt forward so you can hit the halo.
2. Shooting the halo is not supposed to do damage, merely serve as a shield for the bandage.
3. The bandage is supposed to be hit before the boss tilts backwards revealing the spike on the bottom.
4. The wings are not supposed to get damaged unless directly attacked. I think that's supposed to limit the boss's mobility, but in practice I always found it easier to NOT mess with them.

I think the thing with the wings is that it's constantly moving to face you until it's eye is damage enough, so with it's wings destroyed, you can attack the halo without needing to attack the eye. Of course... by the time the wings are destroyed, you probably would have already almost won the battle doing it the normal way, lol. Also... 5. O2 should flail like crazy once his weak point spike is revealed. It's frantic movements really sell it, IMHO.
Shooting the wings does indeed impair 02's ability to track you so you can go after the halo and bandage more directly, but yeah, it is more efficient to just always go for the halo and bandage when 02 is stunned.

I might name the secret second phase just Zero Soul since the 2 in 02 is already indicative of it being the same entity reincarnated. I reccommend phasing out the wing flags at the same time as you phase out the music when the first phase dies.
This is badass! Reusing the boss ui from Forgotten Land and a complete remake of 02's theme is so badass! It would kinda be better if that 02's HP bar is drained slow when aiming for his eye and halo, but drains faster when its thorny core is hit. And 02 Soul! Holy Cow! That is one thing Nintendo wouldn't do! Its form is looks so amazing! And horrifying!
I think the wing flap sound effect should be toned down a little bit and getting quieter as the light fills the screen. But this is pretty interesting.

if there was a sound for the halo breaking and made 02 actually struggle to stay balanced would add more life into this. 02's projectiles should travel faster so you arent just lazily dodging to the left. The eye tracking and the visuals are above amazing and just needs some minor tweaking. This is has very high potential and I cant wait to see if there is a follow up

Not to downplay your work, because damn, it's awesome, but here's some feedback
The wing motion is really rigid, please make segments move individually and in a wave motion.
I know doing it will make it less faithful to the original fight, but please add 1 or 2 new attacks to the first phase instead of making you just circle the screen while spamming the shoot button
Maybe you could change the model (at least in phase 2) so that it actually has the vein-like structures that its render in the credits of the game has? I bet it'd look great if you animated it correctly.
In general the fight is lacking good and fluid movement and animation from the boss. I do know that this is only a preview though
Considering Return to Dreamland Deluxe is coming in just around a month, the concept of a Kirby 64 remake is really cool too. Also, I love the reference to Marx Soul at the end there, and 02 soul’s design looks really unique!
So Zero 2 Soul's eyes is basically Miracle Matter? And boy this got to be the most disturbing soul-type final boss I have ever seen.

I like the concept, but I have to say that the original 02 is much more intimidating. This 02 doesn't feel like an eldritch force of pure evil darkness, but the original sold it masterfully.
A test that might help: Listen to Man on the Internet's 02 with lyrics while you watch the fight, and if your 02 singing those lines feels right, you've nailed 02.

i REALLY don't get why the fandom creams their pants over this guy. He's the easiest final boss in the series, literally all you do is go in a circle and he will never hit you. PLEASE for the love of God make 02 Soul an actual challenge.

This is cool overall but I love the detail of bits of the Darkstar level in the background.
Good luck with the full release. Could you change the level design a little so the crystal shards don't require backtracking?
And also, great Zero Soul design! I wasn't expecting the multi-eye thing, but as the ruler of Dark Matter it makes sense. I made my own attempt, but I just made the eye socket and surrounding tissue heavily bruised and damaged.

This looks really good, but the sound design could definitely use some work. Right now the sound effects are a little choppy and flat, and the music is too orchestral to fit the original "dark" vibe.

I really like this remake, but I feel like Zero 2 looks to clean in this.
A problem most remakes of early 3D games have is that you have to take into account the fact that the low poly aesthetic creates an atmosphere or feel that "better graphics" simply can't just replicate by remaking the assets. The original 02 model looks unnatural. Like it's shape isn't a perfect sphere, (due to polygon limitations) and it's wings aren't even that close to one another, not to mention that it's not specifically clear what the red part on his wings even is. It may be simply a red wing, it could also be blood, it could also be a string of nerves sticking out of the body (as shown in the artwork) the thing I'm getting at is this: the original 02 was uglier and looked less clean.
That's what makes it look otherworldly and even sort of disturbing when compared to Kirby.
The model used in the remake looks simply like "a monstrosity" and not much else really. It's wings clearly follow one another and are close to each other making them look cramped, his red Wings are clearly defined, and it overall just looks worse. I commend the effort of trying to remake it. But you kinda need something more other than just update the visuals to actually make it better.
I really need that O2 Soul theme. :(

Explain: Since it had Forgotten Land Bars and apparent graphics, I thought it was a mod for some existing shooting type boss, which made me in split of a second over think about the secret boss or the pre-boss stage would be a shooting one as classics.
Goodly, and sadly? Wasnt the case. (yeah idk if not having an special gameplay for the finale other than truck is such a good thing) but whatever, is the past.

Im sure you probably wont see this but some things i think would be cool is remaking the original 64 ui instead of the modern ui. I love the original using the ability slots for the crystal gun it made seeing it there feel very special and i feel like its lost when its just a small name. Also using hit points instead of a health bar. The sound design could definitely use work but i like to think that the arena kirby is fighting in is void of much noise so maybe making sfx sound submerged or give it that vacuumed space sound? Looking forward to future progress!!
