Rumors have been scouring the internet regarding this one particular track all the major DJs have been dropping in their recent sets. I actually respect Martin Garrix as a producer. He displays far more musical maturity than many other established acts, and has a mind for innovation and creativity that totally belies his youth.
But it doesn't mean I'm not a little disappointed. Garrix and MOTi usually have more finesse in their productions. What does Virus have to do with the song, either the vocals or the track itself? Other than as a somewhat eye-catching title that is in line with Garrix's previous efforts - Proxy, Keygen etc. The vocals were far too generic, and added nothing of value to the track except as a break filler. The drop, whilst a pleasant respite from more traditional big room drops, was stale, hesitant almost. I almost nodded off the second time round, and I swear one of my subwoofers snored at one point too.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not some crazed big room addict who can only be satisfied by deafening drops where the bassdrum drowns out everything around it for the next three miles. I am all for appreciating a good song, and whilst this is a better than a lot of tracks out there, I know that these two are capable of more. This is a little too uninspiring, and not what I would have expected from a duo of this calibre.
I also find martin to be a huge inspiration, being so young and successful and everything. but i agree man, he had it in him to do a lot better than this. still mirin the song tho
