    I relax every 10 weeks. I trim every other relaxer, so at 20 weeks. Both done at the salon. On another note: I'd watch how you're combing your hair to eliminate the problem area in the middle back. Also, I get a blunt cut, too, but I've made a point of asking my stylist to be sure to trim the short pieces in the front. Otherwise, split ends start to develop because that part of your hair isn't being trimmed.

    She did an amazing job, your hair looks great. I think being in a beautiful salon with nice scenery does something for the senses and is more relaxing. I trim every 10-12 wks if needed and I do it myself. You're so right about the side part, lol.

      Right?! I had no idea I needed this until I had a better atmosphere. I wish I was brave enough to do it myself. Imma learn!

    Beautiful hair sis. I usually relax my hair 3 times a year and trim my ends every time I get a relaxer. That has worked very well for me personally.

    That round brush blow dry technique (actually) frays& breaks the hair, because it requires tension and pulling the hair. My white clients(most) don't care about the blow dry damage cause they want the look, however I wouldn't recommend to my blk clients b/c I know im damaging the hair; Paddle brush drying is better for our hair(Licensed Cosmetologist, FL)

    • @kristenstikes
      @kristenstikes  3 года назад +2

      I’ve never experienced breakage from that technique from any stylist. And she’s a Master stylist licensed in NY. When administered correctly it shouldn’t cause damage. Paddle brushes are said to be better detanglers but round brushes are best used for styling. (Mid back to Waist length healthy hair)

    • @fosterny
      @fosterny 3 года назад +3

      I totally agree. I have fine hair and I cringe when I see a round brush. My fine hairs can’t handle all that tension.

    I get a dusting at the salon with every relaxer - usually every 11-12 weeks. I typically ask her to take off a little more every 6-8 months or
    so for shape.

    1.That's true what you said about the average black salon.
    2. Olapex is hela expensive 😭
    3. Why can't my hair ever be bouncy after straightening? I've tried just putting just heat protectant but it's still stiff after a few passes with a hair straightener.

    • @kristenstikes
      @kristenstikes  3 года назад

      Ha! Yes it’s pricey. I just started using it last summer and I’ve had long hair without it. A hot oil treatment or aloe Vera pre-poo before washing are also good options.

    How often to yew flat iron your hair?

    • @kristenstikes

      Thanks for subscribing. Very rarely. At the most a couple times per year. I typically skip flat ironing when i get it trimmed once per quarter and just have it blow dried.

    Hi! I have this middle fraying issue as well. Did she provide any insight to why this happens?

    • @kristenstikes
      @kristenstikes  3 года назад +2

      For me it’s been moisture. I have to purposely moisturize and seal my hair starting in the back so I don’t forget it. Then I also wear braids under my wigs and there’s been times when i braid the braids together right in the back and don’t moisturize the big jumbo braid well.

    I am a licensed cosmetologist nobody's hair is all the same length she is not cutting the proper way she is supposed to part your hair and trim as well, if you requested your hair to be cut this way ok..but most stylist do not and will not cut this way. However your hair looks beautiful and turned out nice.
