Mounted arquebusiers on the 30 years war are basically your medium cavalry the name is a legacy at this point they tended to figth with swords and pistols more than arquebus. Cuirassiers are clearly your heavy cavalry they figth with similar weapons as the arquebusiers but have more armor and a straigth sword Reiters are also similar to a legacy unit at this point, ligther than the qurasiers they apeared one century ago but would have a similar role to the mounted arquebusiers. Then you would have the dragoons, mounted infantry in a pure sense (literally at the start of the war you had mounted dragoons with pikes so literally mounted infantry) what you would thougth mounted arquebusiers are but they arent And then you croat cavalry cossacks from poland on a later stage hungarians they are your clasic ligth cavalry I dont know the factions of the mod but then you of course would have polish hussars that go agaiinst the rest of hussars and are heavy cavalry, sipahis that are medium heavy cavalry depends a lot they are almost feudal knigths, tartars akinjis etc are pure ligth cav One of the main diference would be the use of cavalry but that depends on the commander, Sweden used more mounted arquebusiers but used them for shock, imperials had reiters that tended at least before use more its pistols but they used a lot cuirassiers and commanders like Papenheim are famous for doing brutal charges as a trademark. Dont know if it is on the mod but english armies of the period had way less cuirassiers reliying more on mounted arquebusiers. As a final note arquebusiers are also refered as cavalry regiments for ease and to diferentiate from well, mounted infantry Also at this point of history pikes where at ratios of 2 musketers for one pike or even less pikemen for heavy pike use you would need to go for more of a italian wars timeframe note:this is from historical point of view i hadnt play the mod
Shouldn't the order of battle be: >artillery open fire from long distance >musketeers begin roiling fire from 200 yards, advancing in ranks >THEN, most of the shooting starts >If the shooting looks to be going one way or the other, the pikemen advance to bring the battle to a close It looks like even at less than 100 yards a musket can't hit the side of a barn Whereas irl afaik the musket was good at putting up pressure from up to 300 yards, becoming quite accurate past 100 The one thing S2 vanilla seems to model correctly is musketeer accuracy* to a point. Maybe there's something wrong with the "accuracy" stat where no matter the max range, the shot is always that* accurate. It's hard to measure; as the only unit with a range past 100 yds in vanilla is warrior monks and musket hero, who already* have very high accuracy.
And this is why total war and modding will always be special.
100%
This mod really looks incredible
Certainly is!!
Modded game from 2011 looks better then game from 2023.
