    600sx is by far a superior saw for the money, they are super easy to work on if needed and you can find parts all over the place

      They’re truly great. If they were lighter they would be impossible to keep on the shelves

      Only downside is the air intake rubber thing. If you have to pull on the saw because the bar is clamped between two logs, thos parts easly can break. Specally on the 590, there is no limiter strap so it get broken a lot. 620 is much more better on this part. I earn my mony buy cutting down timber. Because Husqvarna let me down so often, after the stop making the 3XX Series, I changed to Stihl. Than some M Tronic saws like the M201 let me down, so I bougt an Echo. Beside the air intake part, the echos didnt let me down. So I think if you buy some saws from Echo and only the 50ccm and above 75ccm saws from Stihl, you have a very good setup.

    I'm not surprised because I have a Shindaiwa weed wicker. Their 2 stroke engines are well known to be "Good". I didn't know they made a chainsaw. Looking for a large Makita/Dolmar, but I might add the 600sx to my saws.

      Yes 600sx is a great saw! Dolmar makes a killer saw as well 😎

    First time I have been here and a new Sub! Thanks for this video. I really like this comparison because I have been VERY interested in the 400C for a long time. What has been of interest is the weight difference for me. I originally purchased that 562XP because it seemed to hang with the 400C and was more compact and far less money.
    Question for you. What saw feels better to run in terms balance, vibration, weight etc? Though my 620 is excellent, my 562 is nicer to run. That doesn't mean anything in terms of durability, longevity or anything else. If both saws were fueled up and sharp, what one would you pick up more often to do work with?
    Thanks again and appreciate the video. Love the red saw man!

      Thanks for being here !! Well I definitely will preface this response with being a diehard Stihl guy. The feel and overall vibe of the 400 is more to my liking also quite a bit lighter. Nothing at all wrong with the 620/600, I freaking love it and for the money really can’t be beat. I’d choose the 400 over the 620 for those reasons. Really maxed at 25” for peak performance. The oiler isn’t great on the 400 it does the job but need to upgrade the oil pump. I hate the plastic handle, not a big deal. Only word of caution I have heard is to sufficiently let the 400 warm up with the magnesium piston. I haven’t had a single issue with mine at all.

    • @oakiewoodsman
      @oakiewoodsman 6 месяцев назад +1

      Excellent! I sure appreciate the feeback for sure. I know I was concerned about the Mag pistion initially. The Plastic is a by product of making the saw lighter for sure. I think a lot of ppl probably think it cheapens it a bit but I think that the plastic is probably more durable. It just isn't what we are used to seeing on a saw of this price and caliber. I appreciate it much. The only new Stihl saws I have run was the 661 and the 500i. I would handily choose the 500i over the 661. @@timberandtools

      @@oakiewoodsman yeah for sure! 500 over the 661. Actually don’t own any 661 just find the 660 to be much much more durable!! Yeah I mean the plastic handle is totally fine. Mine has held up well

    Are these saws bone stock? I have a 600sx on the way totally dig the color, can't get my jreds anymore, mine is coming without a bar and chain, but most of my jreds have tsumuras just love the look, if you don't mind me asking, what bar mount do echo/shindys use?I also restore vintage Macs so I have a few d176 mount bars and some husky large/small mount bars cool video😊

    • @timberandtools
      @timberandtools  7 месяцев назад

      Both are muffler modded, you know I don’t remember that the bar mount was, I did just make sure to get one with the same 84DL chain size for easy integration with all my saws. Thats the reason I got the bar. Pretty sure you can swap a Stihl bar with a bar stud adapter to but haven’t confirmed that personally. These saws are great but they really do need a muffler modification if they’re going to run with the 400. Like I said both are modded but the 400 didn’t run significantly better after muff mod like the shin did! Thanks for watching 😎

      @@timberandtools I’d love to see a 620 go up against a 362! If I was stihl I’d be supplying the capital for your retirement to save the embarrassment 🤣 I just can’t stand that 362, just low power for its weight. It just gets to me like .325 chain. lol

      @@PurpleNovember 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I should contact Stihl and have em hook me up haha. Not really many people revealing that the echos are able to compete and sometimes beat Stihl cc to cc🙃 I do have a 362 maybe I’ll have to make another video. Although I have a soft spot for the 362 as it was the first newer saw I got (used and non running) when I started cutting trees. My dad let me borrow a 038 to start with and I bought a new shindaiwa trim saw 358ts

    • @PurpleNovember
      @PurpleNovember 7 месяцев назад

      @@timberandtools I could see how that would make a soft spot for a saw! There is something neat about going through a saw and getting it running to make it yours.
      The more I mess around with the Echo saws the more realize how choked back they are from the factory, something I’ve noticed with all Japanese equipment I’ve been around.
