I'm an industrial mechanic in a large manufacturing facility in canada. The safety has gotten so out of control we worry we will be the safest company that ever went out of business. We spend hours in meetings or reengineering equipment because someone "doesn't feel safe " . Equipment that has not hurt anyone in 35 years. People can't even use a pair if scissors anymore. Much respect to the workers in these videos. They respect the machine and understand you" don't run with scissors"
Funny thing is.. it's not the Elf and Safety department's fault, or the individual's ... it's the CEO's fault for being highly incompetent at managing the whole affair. He/she whomever they are, they're so frakking concerned with a potential lawsuit that they can't keep things in the reigns. AND so concerned with how much they make, that they're highly incompetent at managing the business, because if they did, properly, everyone would profit, but no, better car, more pay, less for the workers. It's hilarious to me that NA, which used to be hailed as managerial heaven, with schools and opportunities has turned into a sh!thole because capitalism has been allowed to run wild, CEOs getting more payment for doing nothing, keeping workers stupid and well contained, no investment in the things that matter, or growth. TLDR: overzealous safety issues are not the problem, they're the symptom to a bigger issue.
Sticking any part of your body into a pinch point on a punch press is a bad idea, and i see one guy missing the end of his finger, i bought a mechanical press brake from a place i worked because it pinched the ends of peoples fingers, that was 20 years ago and i have yet to pinch myself, accidents happen mostly to new people who are not yet aware of the danger no matter how hard you try and tell them, all in all i liked this video, there are many simple changes that could be made at this plant that would keep people safe and not effect production.

@@WorkingViews Agreed, but - OSHA has placed onerous rules on just about everything. We installed eyewash stations on every faucet in the building (didn't have to) and OSHA decided we had to keep a log posted next to the faucet and sign it weekly to prove we tested them.
