yeah but this moments has more impact than the "nothing happened" in scale of loyalty.

Meeting Raizo chained up crying out to give himself to Jack was just as heartbreaking... whole arc was so damm sad!
For anyone that was like me a long time ago and has no idea what’s going on, because they found this at random:
Context:
The animal people (the Mink Tribe) here are harboring a shinobi, Raizo. They have kept him here in their country, _Zou,_ allowing it to be used as a safe haven and rendezvous point for Raizo and his samurai companions (the three shown here).
During Raizo’s time there, Zou was raided by one of the Four Emperor’s (one of the superpowers of the world) fleet, the Beast Pirates.
The Beast Pirates laid siege to Zou, as they were searching for Raizo.
They destroyed the cities, butchered civilians, and tortured the soldiers, including the cat and dog (who are the leaders of the country).
Even as they were killed, tortured, gassed, and had their limbs cut off, everyone interrogated said they’d never even *heard* of a guy named Raizo. This went on for _17 days straight._
It wasn’t just the soldiers, either.
In a show of extreme loyalty, even after 17 days of death and torture, not a single man, woman, or child sold Raizo out.

Raizo is Safe still giving me Goosebumps whenever i rewatch it i feel bad for the Mink Tribe 😢.
i remember when i read it on manga....my jaw dropped and stayed there for solid 2 minutes before i reconstruct my self .

People don't talk enough about how proud the Mink are when the secret comes out. Young and old, man and woman, soldier and civilian, every single one of them is beaming at the archievement.
I like how knowing what we know now they reacted insanely calmly for seeing each other after 20+ years.
ong for a sec after seeing the flashback, I was rly confused of Kinemon's lowkey reaction, but it was only a couple months for him and he probably wasn't 100% certain it was them or that they'd have lived after the events at Wano 20 something years ago
i love how this scene is really memorable for luffy. in the final battle wano arc, luffy telling mink tribe what they did to not sell their friend is crazy. loyalty is luffy strong point as a character after all, remember when he almost died for keep quiet about ace while he got tortured
You can see in luffys face at the end, the ninja did the thing to most gain his respect. Loyalty between friends is the most important thing to luffy, same reason he wept both times bon clay saved his life
which episode did that happen?
This was the moment that made me love the Mink Tribe. To almost get yourself killed for protecting and not selling out a person is so insane and god damn honourable!

One of the greatest plot twists in the entire anime. The fact that the entire fandom reeled back in shock just as the Straw Hats did shows how deep this ran
I remember reading this and genuinely one of the few moments reading has ever given me chills
Knowing the context makes this scene a 100x better
The mink tribe of one piece is one of the most badass groups and the most loyal groups in any anime that they would rather die than sell out friends or family.😊
That irony is most of them are animals. We know animals are the most loyal compare to humans. Dogs for example. Oda is the best, really.
And now it make sense in Oden Backstory why Minks are so loyal to Kozuki Clan it's because they have been allied to them a long year ago and they get a Last Road Poneglyph on his Roger Crew in this Island 🔥

@@jared4552 It's not exactly an inconsistency if you think about it. I mean, they hadn't seen Kinemon for 20 years, so their reaction was more like a mix of surprise, relief, and shock. And as for Kinemon, I don't see any issue with him reintroducing himself after such a long time.

Zou was kind of slow for me and it end up having perhaps the biggest twist in the whole anime

In the real world, in the past it was quite common for groups of people to die for what they believed in, they did have values. Starting from the assumption that they were wrong and spoiled their lives... "Can't they regret it because they ceased to exist?!" However, while they were here, their lives took on greater meaning.

He smiled because the minks exhibited loyalty to their friends, that is how you gain respect the most from luffy. Same reason he wept both times bon clay saved him, and the same reason he has done most of the heroic actions he has done, to help his friends old or new
